Wow, it's all really beautiful! Even though I can't really understand what's in these paintings, and even though they may be slightly disturbing, they are really beautiful, with all theire detailing, various shades, dimensions of objects not restricted by forms. I like that :)

Yes the paintings are quite beautiful and even though the "things" within the painting aren't really identifiable they are mostly neat to look upon and I wouldn't mind having one hanging in the house. When you see one up close and in person the technique and skill is apparent. Tanguy's type of surrealism is non-representational so there may or may-not be actual things he's trying to express. It could be just a mood or feeling. That's what I love about surrealism among other things. :)

I agree with you totally, dragon. He was an early surrealist to be sure and he and his wife really fed each other's interest through the years before he died of a brain hemorrhage back in 1955. Way too young to die and an unfortunate loss for us all.

Louisville is so awesome! I go there every year to see relatives(who are my favorite pair of grandparents). Have you been to the louisville slugger factory/museum?(Great olace to visit) or the flea market(its massive... And air conditioned!)? Or that old fashioned candy making place/museum(you get to watch them make the candy!)? Did you see the kentucky derby(I didnt)? Or all the statues of horses(riders not always included)? And you had to visit the world famous diner with all the crazy decorations(and the winners of the "ugly" lamp contest)!


Louisville is my favorite city in the world! Paris is a close second though. London may top out at 3rd(cant be sure, ive never been there), and Newark is... Bleh... I dont really like newark. (It makes a great first impression on those at the airport... Eh, not quite). If gettysberg were a city it would be right behing paris, maybe tied(I love history, pizza[Tommy's Pizza FTW!], and german food...| long story short: It was a ww2 prison camp. When war ended prisoners were allowed to stay or be shipped back to decimated germany... choice is clear)

(I also love ww1, but no real battles happened in cities[Well, cities that are really nice]like at the trenches... Cities are lousy places for trench warfare)

Yes Louisville is pretty nice and I've seen some things there like the Science Center and the Louisville zoo. I don't get there too often though, it takes a special trip.

I've never been to Paris and likely I never will... given my economic circumstances. :/

If you go to the Speed Museum (which you should since you visit there) check out their surrealist gallery and you'll see the Tanguy and they have a Max Ernst and Hans Arp sculpture too!

Ill try to remember next year. Have you tried Paris, TX? XD
