Photo Removal
I originally was going to leave my photos up, because I had submitted them and they had not been removed yet. Most, if not all of them, violated the AUP. Specifically, they violated this phrase:
"fetish gear/clothing"
In my opinion, the administration has made a mistake including that line. There is no given definition of fetish gear or clothing, but based on what I have seen from people whose photos have been removed, if something is made as fetish gear (as in, stated it is for that purpose) or is normally used for sexual situations, even if it is inherently non-sexual and not graphically obscene, it is fetish gear. That means that a rubber dog hood from BlackStyle.de is fetish gear, but a rubber werewolf mask from a halloween store is not, even though neither is inherently sexual as a simple object. That means a ball gag, which can appear in images on non-prime-time television or even in newspapers that are general access, is considered fetish gear and is not allowed on this site.
That attitude is stupid.
No one reading this journal who watches me would probably think otherwise. The idea of scrubbing all potential sexuality from photographs must have either been a) some legal advice, or b) someone's personal opinion. Considering that there are somewhat vocal groups of users who 'do not want to see that kind of stuff' dancing across the uploads page, even with the mature filters on, I'm leaning towards B.
However, I do want to use FA to post stories and commission pictures that I get, so rather than get my account suddenly suspended in the future as I have heard others suffer, I am going to remove all of my photos.
If you want to see photos I have taken, for now, you can go to my Flickr page:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/hawkwolf81/
You will probably need a Flickr account to see most of them, and a few that have explicit sexual content require that I friend you. That is playing by Flickr's rules about marking content as mature. Flickr is owned by Yahoo! and creating an account based on an existing Yahoo! account is trivial, so if you want to see them and don't have an account, spend a few seconds and set up an account. Plus, it will give you somewhere to upload all those convention pictures.

Either way, keep up the great work. I <3 your stories
I like "clean" art as much as the next person but I'm adult and there's only so many "community" accounts I'm going to keep up.
I hear there are a few awesome places to post too!
But well, I've said it before: FurAffinity is NOT a democracy. You have to either take it or leave it.
ah well. Thank you for posting the link to your flickr. You have excellent photographic work (in subject as well as technique) and I'm glad it's still available somewhere
I am in agreement with you, that there should be no reason to ban a picture of a dog hood or certain stuff like that. It should be fine as long as there is nothing "sexual" showing, like say a penis.
For the admins to make a "judgement call" on something is bullshit, and a clear rule should be outlined for this. I see plenty of pics still on this site with this very concept. It all matters if someone suddenly has a problem with it and reports you, and just the right admins picks up the trouble ticket it seems.
he might as well ban anything adult on the whole site.
I would actually rather FA disallow photography completely than be obnoxiously half-assed about it. I don't need to post photos here. I only did because at the time, it was allowed, and considering that they are 'furry art', seemed appropriate.
I hope people don't fight for me. That's silly. I wanted to explain why I removed my pictures, and the explanation includes my opinion that I think the policy is stupid and disagree, but I'm being a good person and removing my pictures instead of trying to argue for them. Or something.
Heres what i got.... - Rubberkitten,
As you may be aware, FA's AUP has been updated, recently.
This includes a addition to the photography section, specifically forbidding fetish gear/clothing in photographs.
As such, your gallery now contains a few submissions in violation of the AUP, and I would like to request you, to remove these photographs.
I will check back on this gallery, on the 16th of September. One month after the AUP update was applied. I hope you've policed your gallery, by then.
Yours,
-Cerbrus
I had a photo removed because they were too blurry even though the photo wasnt that bad -__-.
I hope FA doesnt go to shit....starting to feel like y!gallery.
