Some Police units train like this, and if the shoot out in Encino last night (Near a grocery store that I sometimes pop into), and the LAPD Officers were not injured, and the perp was perforated but survived. So I think it all works out. If you drill and drill and drill, it becomes instinct, and even under a panic situation you can function. the USMC is so successful because the training is so hard. (your S.A.S and S.B.S. as well) Looking at the competitors. there. they mostly seem to be in shape as well so they probably do some athletic training as well.
