Just a heads up

General
FA has incorporated new admins/mods into it's staff recently, which is all fine and dandy, except one of the admins (I will not name names) has taken it upon themselves to delete one of my taxidermy submissions on another account due to "gore". Now, there was no gore in this photo - trust me, I wouldn't upload a gory photo to FA because I know it would really bother people. I was also told that all photography must be uploaded as General, not Mature or Adult.
I have a little way of labeling different forms of taxidermy. For example, all bones/skeletons/skulls/teeth, I mark as General because people generally do not get up in arms about these things. Taxidermy mounts, furs, pelts, hides, etc are marked as Mature because these are things that most members tend to get upset over, I know that by setting the photo as Mature rating, it will warn potential viewers that yes, this is a pelt/hide/skin and there is potentially an upsetting photo here. I also use taxidermy-related warning icons for this purpose as well. I do not even use the Adult rating because there is nothing on this account that I would upload that would warrant an Adult rating because I do not upload gore, full, dead animals or skinned animals to FA.
Regardless, this is the note I got from the admin who had removed my submission:
Admin wrote:A severed leg is considered gore. The AUP reads as follows:
'Taxidermy - Taxidermy is permitted as long as respect is shown to the creatures involved. Images may not contain blood, gore, or signs of pain and/or trauma.'
A severed leg does not show respect to the creature involved. And a missing leg definitely shows signs of 'pain and/or trauma', which was confirmed in the description when you said it was a leftover from a cat's meal.
The first thing in this statement that I have a problem with is "gore, blood, trauma". There was no trauma in the photo, it was a preserved leg.
The second thing in the statement that I have a problem with is "it shows signs of 'pain or trauma' [...] it was leftover from a cat's meal."
I will get into detail as to why I have a problem with the second statement in a second.
My Reply wrote:I did not kill the bird, it was dead when I found it. If we are going to ban all photos of skulls/bones that were the meals of other animals because that's "gorey", you may as well ban every photo of every skull ever because chances are they were cleaned in the wild by bugs/animals or were cleaned by dermestid beetles by taxidermists.
Admin wrote:The AUP doesn't say the pain, trauma, etc had to be caused by the user.
These are the guidelines the site owners want us to follow. If you'd like to provide some input on the AUP, I suggest you contact the site owners, as they are the ones who dictate the AUP.
Alright, back to the part I wanted to cover. The AUP doesn't say the pain, trauma, etc had to be caused by the user."
If this rule were to be officially put into place (it isn't.), then all photos including animal-products must be taken down, correct? I get into this in my next reply to the admin:
My Reply wrote:But... if any dead animal (even if the pain wasn't caused by the user/uploader), all bones, pelts, hides, leather, skins, furs, skulls, teeth, etc should be banned. One way or another, that animal died (whether it be from disease, roadkill, fur farms, old age, etc). That means all crafts including animal parts(dream-catchers.. necklaces.. bracelets.. pouches/bags that contain fur or leather, taxidermy mounts or pelts.. etc), should all be banned. These are all legitimate crafts. Taxidermy is an art plain and simple.
I'm already seeking advice on the matter from other admins.
I have not received a reply back and I do not expect one, I am simply posting this to let you guys know that there is an admin going around taking it upon themselves to get rid of non-gorey taxidermy-related photos. If you receive notes like this and have/had your submission(s) removed, please comment in this journal here. I am currently speaking with another admin about this fake rule.

FA+

That is really halfminded that they deleted that picture. I mean, so what it was traumatized, (I do have sympathy for the poor bird) but it's not like you showed it right after it was eaten and there was still blood and dirt. No, you cleaned it up, and preserved it. I honestly don't see why that's a problem.
Most people are against taxidermy (I don't know why, people have their reasons I guess) but I honestly think it's beautiful and a great thing. Yeah if we kill the animal ourself I do belive it has to be used for more then it's pelt (deer= deer meat etc) but it's still a beautiful thing to preserve the animal.
I really hope the old admins crack down on the new ones and tell them to cut it out. I also hope they stop making the new rules so strict. Dragoneer has changed the rules to state that "A) all elements of the culinary piece are created by the user" which puts groups like
I think the older admins need to tell them to stop making assumptions on what is allowed and not allowed when they haven't even been here for a month yet.
As far as that goes, why allow drawn pictures depicting gore, trauma, etc? Craziez. =PTo a point I agree (but that's a whole 'nother can of worms that I don't feel like opening), and to a point I agree that dead animals (gorey.. dead animals, that is) should not be uploaded to FA, I don't see anything wrong with a pair of preserved bird feet.
