My dog is in pain and agony
And he has been for quite some time. He is old, I think 14 years now, been in our family since my grandfather passed away in 1997. His name is Alfie and he has arthris in his hind legs, getting really thin and he had cancerious lumps all over his body.
We live in a triple story house on the coast, and he has to walk down steps every day and night and back up again and cries everytime he does so. We put down water proofing on the floors so that his urine doesnt get in the carpet cause he releases before he can get outside.
Now here's the question...should we put him down to save his pain and agony of everyday life...since he is dying very slowly a painfully. Or should be keep him in pain, with love and support till he gets ready to pass away...
If we put him down, it will be for the best, but imagine a part of your family dying...if we don't he will be in more pain than our tears for his death...
What do I do? Because I'm telling my Grandmother not to put him down, and she is listening to me.

I know exactly what ur going through man :/ My childhood pet was named Rocky. He was a german shepard mix, and I heard certain mixed breeds like german shepards have there hips go out to where they can't even use their back legs. He would jump over my dads fence all the time which I think was a good part of it. Eventually my dad put him down cause Rocky was just always in pain dragging himself along the ground. He was with us for at least a good ten years. He's in a better place and I feel he was with us longer than most dogs and is still around. The decision is yours though :( Give him as much love as u can

its best for the animal to be put down if he is in so much pain.my mum uses calpol, a kids medicine which is diluted paracetamol for children for the rats.if they are in so much pain she would put them down but if you can find some sort of pain killer for your dog that helps ease the pain, then he should not need to be put down but have lots of love and care.if i was a dog in pain then i would say."please put me down.in so much pain."

Best thing to to do, if the animal is in a lot of pain and you cant see that life can be enjoyable for it anymore, best then is to put it down. It can be hard at times, I've put down a few family pets and buried a few too, and its not easy I know. But think about it, and make the choice...
