Musical DFDs, please help, details inside
14 years ago
There was a policy change with the G.I. Bill that makes it so I only get paid for the time I'm actually in school. That means I'm getting nothing for August since school's not in session for that month. My last paycheck went almost entirely to paying tuition and I'm almost out of what was left. I'm hoping some of you might be able to help out so I can keep myself fed and able to transport myself to school until I get paid in about a month. I've seen this "doodles for donations" thing that some people have done and I thought I'd take the concept and adapt it to music.
So here's the deal. Anything you're able to donate will help, and as thanks for your donations I will arrange the song of your choice in a style that I think works well for the song. Video game tracks are preferred (just look at my gallery) but I'm willing to try others as well. Here's how it breaks down:
Less than $3 - I will make a music box arrangement of the song of your choice
Examples: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5813590/ http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5801047/
$3 to $9.99 - I will make a chiptune arrangement of the song of your choice
Examples: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5688421/ http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4648071/
$10 to $19.99 - I will make a simple arrangement of the song of your choice
Examples: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5037871/ http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3353268/
$20 and up - I will make a medley of songs from the game of your choice
Examples: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6475974/ http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5100713/
If you're feeling generous, you're free to downgrade to a lower level as well. For example, if you want to send $10 but want a chiptune track, that's perfectly fine.
As an added bonus, my girlfriend,
robinmedli, has offered to do a quick sketch for anyone who offers $10 or more.

Payments can be sent via PayPal to tansunn [at] gmail.com, and a huge thank you to everyone who's able to help.

As a huge game-music lover, I am very excited by this prospect. I'd love to see you do somethin' neat with Antipyretic, (imo) one of the best songs from Final Fantasy Tactics. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fU7BJjrp2xg
Do whatever you think will sound good! (I am certainly partial to chiptunes though :3)
By the way, my girlfriend has offered to do a quick sketch for people who offer $10 or more. Is there a character you would like her to draw?
That said, a sketch of my Aura would be awesome ^^ http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4001475/
I'll get back to you with something to chip-tune as soon as something especially fun comes to mind.
http://youtu.be/YfhDeNF0n3g
If that's not okay, let me know and I can pick something else to arrange.
As for Robin, if she's okay with it I'd love to see her sketch Sadira here.

If that's okay let me know, and I'll note Robin any details she may want or need.
That track is really cool and shouldn't be a problem. Did you want me to arrange it as a chiptune or with more realistic instrumentation? Or both? I'm fine either way.
I don't see any issues with the character, either, so go ahead and send her a note with the reference.
Assuming you still need it, I'll probably donate again next time I'm paid. I wasn't able to be as generous as I would've liked with my first donation.
Honestly, I don't know if I'll still need it. I was supposed to be getting a financial aid payment shortly after school started, but I went to check on it on Friday and I had more paperwork to fill out and get processed. I have no way to know how long that'll take to get processed or if it'll get approved until it actually does. Assuming it doesn't, I'm going to have to find a way to last for 4 weeks until I get my military benefits.
i hope it comes through for you!
I put a link to this journal on my userpage, asking people to donate. Hopefully it helps you out.
Sorry your track is taking so long. With both morning and night classes, my days are pretty full, so the most free time I get to work on music is the weekends. I actually got some ideas after listening to your track for the first time, though, so that's already a step up from the FFT track where I basically just sat down and forced myself to make something out of it. Once I actually have time to sit down and get started on it, it shouldn't take too long to get those ideas sequenced out.
Thanks again for your generosity and patience.
And if you don't mind doing a second arrangement, I think it'd be fun to do a chip-tunes arrangement of the Crossfire commercial music.
http://youtu.be/Dkc2vYUEA9w <- a somewhat more recent rendition.
And I don't mind if it'll take you awhile, so don't worry about it. :)
Can you do http://homestuck.bandcamp.com/track.....ment-dave-owns
if not, we'll discuss other terms (or none, the cash is yours now, I hope it serves you well on your way to school!)
Sure, I could cover that one. Would you like me to keep it to a one-chip setup or a combination of multiple chips? (Game Boy, NES, SID, or a combination of two of them.)
Think you could try doing this?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1HwVKrdeKY
That track's fine. I'll start working on it after I finish the other two tracks in the queue.
Have you contacted robinmedli about a sketch yet?
As for my commission, I think I'd like an arrangement of this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSxd.....0F&index=5
http://youtu.be/8Gy_zq_YuQQ
I don't think its too difficult at all, but if you can I am SO ready to give you $15
Getting chiptunes AND a sketch? Who would pass this up ; v ; !!!
Just let me know; looks like you have a busy list going on here~
Plus anything to help out while things are trying to pick up
Sent you a chunk of change then...so now...

Whether you want to pick just one, or make a compilation of all three, or even pull other songs out of that game, do whatchu' will for $25. :D Gotta support those aspiring musicians!
I'm not really getting much inspiration from those tracks, but I'm totally willing to give it a shot. I didn't have much inspiration when I went into the Final Fantasy Tactics track either, and I think I got something pretty good out of it. ...plus I could always use more money.
Just be aware that these are going fairly slow now that school's picked back up. I've got both morning and afternoon classes and not much time between them. I've been able to finish one track each weekend since I started doing these, though, so that should give a rough estimate for how long it'll take to finish the rest of my queue. If that's all cool with you, feel free to donate and I'll add you to the queue!
