Hmmm... I haven't drawn any horsies in a long, long time. Maybe it's time I drew some. To be honest, I have no idea why I started drawing the mono-lash. It was something I did from the very beginning and never really got away from. Maybe it's because it's like Siouxsie Sioux's eye make-up. Giving away my goth heritage. ^_^

Yeah, I really need to to learn how to draw masculine looking male characters. Uhmm, I started drawing in 1992, but I've always been an on-again-off-again hobbyist at it.

Backgrounds it is! I've been wanting to start investing in learning how to draw, and stretching my wings, as it were. I think backgrounds and visual story-telling are my weakest links and I want to really learn how to do it. I also want to learn how to draw comics, which totally ties into the whole background scenery thing.

hey, that was about the time I started to draw animal people, too! ^^ I was isnpired through role-playing games, to have a visual evidence of my fuzzy characters that would be definite. most of them never came into play, though... but that doesn't matter. :)

for me, it's the backgrounds where I usually run out of patience, sometimes inspiration. comics is hard work for me, but I try to give my best still.

do you know Scott McCloud? he drew a comic book named "Understanding Comics" which makes it easy to understand the origins and language of comics. then there are also Will Eisner's books. :)

I wanted to let you know that I picked up a copy of Understanding Comics, and it is fantastic! It really does change how I think about comics. Really makes we want to draw them more. I'm thinking of doing a few one/two pages.

yay! the second and third issue are pretty good, too. he comes up with details most readers have never thought about before, like how time flies within a panel, and how to determine moods, and such.

Will Eisners books might be expensice by now ("Comics and Sequential Art", and "Graphic Storytelling"), but they tell you a lot of additional details about storytelling with pictures. I have a hard time putting them to use, but for me, I have not enough patience and self-discipline. but still they are interesting to read. he* I bought the hardcover-with-signed-print issues back when, somewhen in late 90's, and they cost about 50$ a piece. I count them among those posessions of mine they'd have to pry off my cold fingers in the end.

This meme is certainly thought provoking and practical. I'd have to give this a try myself. The stuff stated above are the first things that come to mind. I'm moving and VERY tired, so I tried to keep things concise. I hope it helps.
