College or Colorado - Career or Self Exploration
14 years ago
I'm very tired. And so much is going on right now in real life. I'm so discombobulated. I'm split between college and Colorado.
Do I go to college for ONLY 14 months and get placed into a job after graduating, while the college also includes externships? The college is 40 minutes away, I could live on campus or commute. They have housing plans, not "dorms".. I'd be getting my Medical Administrative Assistant Degree which they have specific classes for. I would not be learning anything that I don't need (math, english, and other classes not needed) so it would be great. But then there's money issues. I am scared to be in debt. I don't want to ever own a credit card. Everyone in my family is in serious debt, and, knowing me, I would take advantage of the devilish piece of plastic. But I'd need it.. For college. I don't know how much it will cost and I may or may not have a scholarship. I don't participate in after-school activities or clubs and I'm not athletic. So I dunno..
OR.. Do I go to Colorado? I would live with my friends Tal, Joe, and I believe Zair. It would cost me $400 a month with utilities included and I'd only have to worry about food and entertainment. I would live in a household of furries and I would be able to participate in regularly scheduled fur-meets. I would live with other fur suiters as well. It'd be so fun.. I would have some sort of job and have left over money, I'm sure, every month. I'd be around people that I love and care for so deeply. Plus, I would travel to AC with them every year and I'd be right next to Rocky Mountain Fur Con and Nan Desu Kan. It'd open up a lot of social oppurtunities for me. I would save up money to eventually go to a college either on campus or online, whatever would be best in the area. This method, too, has a downside. I'm afraid I won't go to college. Post-poning it may cause me to never even go. Also, everyone in my immediate family have went to college, but they've all also dropped out..
I need to make up my mind by next June. If I decide college, I need to do tons of paper work and etc. If I choose Colorado, I need to start packing right about now the stuff that I don't need at all times and get my driver's license ASAP. If going to Colorado, I would probably go to AC with my car jam-packed and a U-Haul truck readily at hand and follow the guys home after AC is over. Either way, I need to get a job NOW and a license NOW. I have a car already.
I need help on this guys. What do you think I should do? I'm so confused and so very scared. It's so difficult.. I would leave behind a lot of people in this town if I go to Colorado but college would be just 40 minutes away. I would be leaving behind so many memories but I could visit though. But Colorado has so many opportunities for me, I think. Expressing myself is the one thing I am greatest at and it would be so easily accomplished in Colorado. People have told me to follow my heart but.. My heart is split in two on this.. So.. I am asking all of you for your advice. Please, help a pandurp out? :c

then, when you got enough money to live off of for a while, THEN move to colorado.
Or find out what college is close to your friends and do indeed see what they have to offer.
But those are just my oppinions. I heard you can do online colleges at some universities even if you're out of state.
Colorado would be cheaper than college because I'd live with friends and pay a smaller amount to live in a real house than what I would pay to live in an apartment/dorm. I'd save up for college and be financially secure. I'd only have to pay $400 a month and a few extra things for my phone and food.
