yeah, and if the vavlecover isnt sealing right then Im going to have to get another set and try again. Ughh, I like my ford, but i hate how they placed the brackets and hoses on it. One reason I think its leaking is because there was a bracket there that I couldnt take th bolts off *it was in the far corner on the passenger side* I think its the one use for lifting the motor out or something. But if I could have taken the bolts out I could have probably made sure it was tightened down right* i stopped trying after the socket kept jumping the bolt and I didnt want to round it out* But then again, it could be other things. Im just gonna but a gasket set and replace every gasket on the bastar if I can get it to college without it catching fire or something. Ive just about given up on it.

Another thing to try is to use those rubber gaskets instead of the cork ones. I did that to my BBC and works well. I also heard some people doubling up on the cork gaskets. A bead of silicone should help in any case. Just don't put too much that a glob squeeze out and fall into the crankcase. That'll be bad. I had a 302 that the crank snapped (right at the front bearing) due to a piece of debris.

yeah, I should have asked for rubber gaskets too, but I wasnt thinking. And I should have put alittle on the head too before I put the valve cover back on. heh in either case, its going to be a while before I can get to it, might try to see if I can get those rubber gaskets instead of those cork ones. I just didnt know if they mad them for a 302.

Check out thee racer suppliers. I sure Summit Racing would have them. I think mine is made by Moroso, but it's been a long time. Some people would not use and gasket but put a heavy bead of RTV. I don't recommend that since it can make pulling off the covers in the future a huge pain.

yeah, thats sertainly true, but if it stops that leak near the back, I wouldnt mine. Shot, it was already a pain to take them off the first go round, lol.

you and just walk the clamp off. If it is connected, get the new clamp on and tighten down right behind the old one then you could take some wire cutters and carefully nip the old one OR just leave it their till you got to replace the hose

thats what I was thinking. Might just get some new ones ans put em behind the old ones, then cut the hose between them and walk it farther down til it gets to the end, or just have two on there or something. But that valve cover is another thing, I can see the oil leaking from the backside. And I caught hell tring to get it on with tearing it and now it still leaks. Well, I guess its time to bust out the Silicone, like most of everybody doea. Then again, I dont know if it was just doing that because it wasnt sealed to the head yet, and if it would do it later after I let it run for a bit longer. I dunno, I just dont want to fool with those damn valve covers again, thats all. In the end, I might have to

valve cover are a tough, If you don't get all the old gasket clean off the new one will leak, and yeah the back part is where it tends to do that becaue we are not a good at cleaning the back as the front. Add to that must gaskets seem to be this cork that really easy to damage.
also you got to tighten the bolts down a little bit at a time, like going 1/2 on each bolt, any warpage in the valve cover will cause a leak. I think my brother in law said Criss cross pattern but then it been 10 years since I had to fool with that stuff.

yeah, I think one of them might have been, and that cork crap really anouys me, thats why from now on, Im using rubber as much as possible. I forgot what pattern to tighten the bolts down in, but I know whichever one it was, it either warped it and that has it leaking, or made the gasket walk or tear from over tightening it. *sighs* Well, I hope I figure something out pretty soon, thanks for the info
