Thought I'd mention this here too, for anyone who has a Tumblr.
I'm now participating in the Great Daily SketchBet http://sketchbet.tumblr.com/ on Tumblr. The goal is to post a sketch, every single day, until the deadline (December for this round). If you miss a day, you lose. (and have to pay up your bet to the winner.)
Not only am I doing this to keep myself on a strict deadline (and kill my procrastination tendencies), but as a way to challenge myself.
So I've written up a list of things that I normally do not draw, and I'll be forcing myself to drawn them each week.
-2 backgrounds, with at least 1 needing a perspective grid.
-2 human characters, either being from a photo ref, or concept design. Full bodies.
-1 illustration concept/speed painting. Concentrating on composition, lighting and color scheme.
-At least one sketch per week must be comic related, either from MadWillow, Dream-Eater or Omega District.
that'll give me 2 days for free mindless sketching, to keep the creativity fresh.
I'll be posting them on my Tumblr http://pencilcat.tumblr.com/, as well as at the SketchBet group. (I'll probably compile weekly sketch dumps too for here, unless I should post each one individually?) I'd appreciate any encouragement and feedback (and possibly sketch prompts?).
If you don't see a sketch before 11:59pm on any day, start screaming at me to post something! XD
