Not a fan of the bait with tease of whats on a pay site to see the full uncovered picture and get subscribers. I understand that artist want to get their watchers to the pay site to make money, and its there art and right, but I don't like the censoring to bait folks into going. But whatever works for them.

to be fair, some artists censor their art either because the commissioner doesnt want the uncensored version to be seen online and others use censored images to promote auctions for the painted and uncensored version.

and personally i dont really care about it when artists do it just for the heck of it. i dont come here to see porn, i want to see art. and when there is a black bar on the characters junk or something along that line then i can still enjoy it just as much^^

What exactly do you mean by "censored"? Are you referring to the little black boxes, stickers, and even subtle creative censorship? Some people just don't want to have their characters oggled because, well, it is a representation of themselves. And if they don't feel comfortable flashing themselves to strangers why in the hell would they present it to strangers on here through their persona? Personally, I come to FA for art, not for porn. And I can enjoy a censored piece of artwork just like I can with uncensored. In fact, often times I enjoy it more.

Porn can be, and technically is, art, first off.

I think you misunderstood what I meant: I enjoy creative censorship. Something that is subtle and nice and lends itself to the artwork. I don't enjoy big black boxes. It's annoying but I can ignore it and pay attention to the things that I do like about the work. Your accusation of me "enjoying censored art more than regular art" is obtuse and aggressive for no reason. Good job.

Also, I understand that porn can be considered art. Trust me... I went to art school and that debate was everywhere. Hell, I debated that into the ground in highschool even. What I meant when I said that I come to FA for the art and not for the porn was that I don't care if its mature or adult or whatever unlike some people who get on FA only viewing it for its pornographic qualities rather than enjoying it as a well thought out composition, color palette, etc. That also means that I don't care if its censored. Since I'm note here for the porn that means I don't care if its censored. If that was how the artist wanted it viewed, then that's how they wanted it.

I'm sorry, but censoring a piece for the sake of censoring it is stupid to me. Especially if it's porn. Tasteful nudity, that's different. Pictures that tease at eroticism, that's different.

Yes porn can be art, but there are artist who make a living off of their work. One i watch in particular does a comic that is pornographic in nature, but when he posts pics about that the comic is up, he censors out or cuts things off to just show that its up. He depends on people buying his art, not getting to view it for free. Some people also censor things so that they can be posted to a more open audience rather than just for the adult public. A lot of artist really want to make money. Put it up on the internet, and low and behold, everyone can save it, copy and paste it, and so on. Maybe they are doing it to protect themselves and their work.

I also agree with Rowynn about coming here for more than porn. Its one big reason I hate DA now. That is all I see now is porn (not artistic, not thought through bathroom pictures of someone's tits or dick because they think the world needs to see them). I looked up to your style because it was unique... but I personally have my characters cover some to most of their body parts when I draw nudes, or I have them in a way you don't see things. I tried "porn" and it wasn't for me. So are my nudes that cover up considered "ugly art"?

If that's the way you're reading it, then that's because that's the way you want to read it. Art is art is art. Censorship is a last resort.

But if they are say, selling prints of that particular image, if its not censored, who needs to buy the damn print? All they have to do is jack it off the internet at that point and print it themselves. Censors save artist's money. If they do not have a reason for censoring, fine i see your point. But if they are doing it for income or because its an advertisement for what they are selling, i see it as legit.

I don't mind artists who censor their work and then sell it, like ArtDecade. I'm talking about artists IndigoFactory and Kuron, who just do it because they want to. At that point, why am I bothering to look at your work?
