I tried to get through the comic once before so I could form an opinion but the bias in it was so strong that I couldn't even finish.

That's what a lot of people say, I saw some detailed reviews on it, and I can see why...

That comic actually makes me feel bad for having hyena characters who are African in my N'duk books, like they have tarnished the goodness in my characters.

I...honestly had no idea about the bias or anything like that while reading it. I thought that he told a rather conservative American-bent story about troubled children growing up in an adult world. I had no idea he was supposed to be a racist or anything like that while reading it at all. I understood that hyenas = black people and mice = Jews (and foxes = therapists, dogs = weird, cats = typical white American, etc.?), but I honestly never even thought to look at it as racist. In the same way I watched Song of the South and actually didn't find it racist, either.

Am I missing something, or do I think political correctness is just a load of bologna?

I mean, I've since heard all the criticisms of it and all that, but I enjoyed it. And in the short time the comic was going while I read it, I sorta felt like I grew up with the main characters. I dunno. All that really bugged me is that it was hard to tell the characters apart sometimes.

Rather conservative is an understatement, the characters take things into their own hands and kill. And characters with differing opinions have weak arguments to make his main characters look like they destroyed them, the "strawman" if you will.

Plus there are no characters with common sense.

I thought the strawman was someone comparing apples to oranges. Like bringing up a comparison of Obama and Hitler by saying that they both spoke in Berlin during a political discussion.
As for common sense, I dunno, Fisk seems like he had decently common sense. And the characters make more sensible actions than they do in Generic Teen Drama #531.

After I read your journal I went and found the comic and read it...

It's good in many aspects but its also disgustingly horrible in other ways, the Dialouge for one thing, when have you ever heard 8, 10 or even 14 year olds talk like that?!?!?!

As far as the Black=Hyena Mouse=Jewish etc, etc. I think it was just a hack move on his part, espically when he decided to stereotype everyone and make them the most shallow bland characters I've ever seen. The only ones that are developed are the family and a few of there close friends.

It's kinda simaler to the book I'm trying to do, except instead of dividing species by the color of ones skin, I divide them by NATIONALITY!! Which is just a tad more original then the bullshit he has...

You mean to tell me you just discovered Better Days? It has a few good points but overall the characters just felt like a lot of the characters were Mary Sues. But then again, its primarily a vehicle through which to move adult comics.
