online streaming is not really but kind of like microdosing performing so people want microdosed payment? the argument for sales, measurement, right to use song to earn money, and all of that stuff is a debate that has been around for a long time. it's just messier with the internet now.

sometimes labels really want to control who uses their music. - they are usually being scummy though because johnny whoever in their basement should just be able to play shinedown on stream without getting megabanned.
Yeah that's true that it's been going on that long, I just feel like people aren't going to just be satisfied with what they heard on a stream, they will look for a place to stream or buy the track with quality audio if they really dig it, that's the thing that confuses me, maybe it has more to do with everything being automated as far as having stuff taken down, who knows it's just so illogical to me to mess up free promotion.
Yeah twitch is notoriously bad about it, and there are curated playlists that’ll keep you safe but for that I’d rather just listen to my own music on a different device and just game or draw without the approved music
It depends on the label. Several labels have very specific rules about how to display their content on-stream and via banner below the stream. It's a lot of extra work that sometimes doesn't pan out but it's worth a shot to track stuff down. EG: Spinnin Records https://spinninrecords.com/spinnin-.....ree-music/faq/
It's a double-edged sword. It can be harmful if the music is brought in a context that is not intended and unwanted by the artist or their beliefs and opinions.
Point is: It's super hard to control it with all the broadcasting and personal media around in our times.
Oh definitely, if tge artist doesnt want it played a certain company or person then yes. my main concern is just somebody doing a dj set or playing it in the background, but like you said it's gotten so big with personal media and broadcasting.

Greed is also a strong point, admittedly.
