umm, sorry...
I'm sorry for overreacting a little in yesterday's journal. Those who have been watching me for a little longer now have probably noticed that this happens every once in a while, especially when I haven't really done anything art-related for a couple of days. I immediately get the feeling then that my stuff, compared to everyone else's work here absolutely sucks. And that really gets me down. At times this feeling can be used in a very productive way but if it gets too overwhelming, I get the urge to rip apart every single picture I have ever drawn in my life and forget that I ever did something art-related. This might sound very exaggerated but that's simply the way I often feel and there's nothing I can do to prevent this from happening every now and then. Every artist has his own way of "motivating" himself, you know... ;)
I'd like to announce that I don't plan to leave FA anymore. However, what is very likely to happen is that the amount of pictures I'll upload here will decrease quite a bit since I plan to focus more on other things.
I'd still like to continue with the trades, here's the updated list:
1. Pipkin - Finished
2. Karakina
3. Kurosa
4. Dago
5. Purpleweeble
6. Scappo
7. Korrok
8. RevanKitty
9. Zenmigawa

:) nice to hear
Why?
Because then I know, I can help others get better with their art, as well! Ane eventually, if I work my ass off, I'll be just as awesome as those I admire! Maybe more!
Glad to know you won't be leaving. ;) I'd hate to lose mah art-buddy!
I'll take a look at your submissions when I get back to work, and finish up some line art (and hopefully.. your picture) in the 3 unwanted days I have off from work after tonight.
Remember! You're awesome! Don't get yourself down!
seems like you have alot trades going on, but if you feel willing for more, I could do collab or art trade with you too ^^
Thats very much a good thing.
if we're to go through an average Faves-n'-Comments count for every image you upload, then results say you're more popular and favorable of an artist than i am. whatever you're drawing is obviously more pleasing and favorable than anything i'm producing.
draw for the enjoyment of yourself, and for the fans you trust. for those who're just sticking around for the porn... fuck 'em all.
It's okay to look at another artist and say 'I wish I could do X that this artist does better than me.' and then go study it and learn how. It is always good to want to improve your work and to strive to make it look more beautiful to you (remember, your enjoyment of your art is important, too. I got burned for nearly a decade when I forgot this and quit drawing because everything I was doing was for othe rpeople and I didn't enjoy any of it).
It's not good to look around and say 'I am not in the top 100 artists of all time, and not as good as the artists I respect and admire (if you were, would you still respect and admire them? Do you respect and admire the people you see who you feel have art 'at your level'? No reason not to...)...THEREFORE MY ART IS CRAP AND I AM WASTING MY TIME.'
That's no good. Hurts you. Makes you knock your own best efforts down and decide they aren't any good because they aren't Tim Fucking Hildebrandt or Salvador Dali or someone else who can spit on a canvas and sell it for a thousand cash.
Comparing yourself to others in order to encourage growth is healthy. Deciding your art is worthless because in your eyes it isn't 'godly' is unhealthy.
Strive to improve when you look at others, not to cut your own throat because you aren't them.
From an outsider's eyes, I simply *love* your art. You have a great sense of anatomy, your imagination is awesome and I just love the characters you create! You have incredibly good expression and your poses are fantastic. One thing that you accomplish that 99% of artists I see out there can't do is show soul in the eyes of your characters. The eyes are the window to the soul and your art proves that. Of course you're going to want to rip up your art and never pick up a pencil again. Congratulations, you're an artist. :) I go through the exact same thing and maybe everyone on FA does. We all want to be as good as Moonstalker or Dark Natasha or Swandog.. and we WILL be. There have been two pieces of advice that have helped me artistically. Instead of become jealous of those who have what we desire, bless them and be happy for them. They worked very hard to get there and in turn, our journey will become easier. Two, while you're walking on the road of this artistic journey, don't always look ahead and see how far you have to go. Sometimes, turn around and see how far you have already came. :)
Ok.. sorry for the uber long response. XD I just know where you are coming from. *hugs*
Something I've experienced throughout this year though is that while looking at people's art here I realized that, even those really famous artists, often make faults in their drawings especially when it comes to drawing hands and arms. I find this very encouraging as it shows that nobody here is something like an art-god, no matter how much some people here claim to be one... Personally, I stopped looking at those people's art who are considered the most skilled among the FA-Community because I want to create my own style instead of copying somebody else.
It's quite understandable that you have ups and downs as so - I doubt one could put the energy and passion into a piece as you seem to without a certain level of turbulence. Art in all its various mediums, stimulates a person emotionally, mentally and physically. In this manner, it could be said to be like a drug in its effects and therefore given that comparison, after intensive indulgeance, I'd imagine that a comedown/hangover effect is quite possible.
Though unlike with drugs, you are left with more than just memories, you're left with what are unmistakably wonderful pieces of artwork - despite your quite natural insecurities about them. You are a talented artist who creates wonderful pieces and I'm clearly not the only one who beleives so.
My only hope is that you continue to produce art. It improves the quality of my submissions list no end, I can tell you. z: )
You have some very valuable things - talent and drive. Your accomplishments speak for that. It would definitely be a shame for them to be wasted.
