I can't really speak from experience as my wisdom teeth were deemed okay to leave in, but it's really not that bad nowadays. Honestly with all the dental work I've had done recently, the numbing shot is the worst part. My dentist has an unconventional approach as a means to deal with people who clench up at needles... he'll be making small talk as he asks you how your day is, and he'll be like "open up, let me take a look"... and give you the shot without any forewarning. Hey, it works.

Well the more time you have to think about it, the more worked up you can become.

Don't worry too much, i already had all four of my wisdom teeth removed. The only bad parts about it were the IV, and the sore mouth i had for a few days after. i don't remember anything about the operation to be honest, i don't recall if they put me under or just drugged me so i'd forget it all. But the drugs were fun, or so i'm told. i made comments after walking out of the office like "man, that shit was good..." or some such. i'm... embarrassed about that part, but i guess i said it.

In the end, local anaesthesia and no IV

Sounds like you made it through alright. They must have needed a lot for such a big penguin.
