Thank you to Everyone who made a short Furfright worth it!
While work responsibilites kept me from attending the complete weekend for Furfright 2011, I'd like to thank everyone who spent any amount of time socializing to make it a worthwhile con visit.
I was pleased to be a part of the con festivities and be involved in a great social atmosphere.
Con Highlights included Titanium Tea, winning the one-hand pinball tournament trophy, hugging many fursuiters, Gaming and teaching Vaniki skunk how to play cribbage. Rooming with the very same Vaniki in the Main Con Hotel.
Sushi dinner at Oyama!
The usual nonsense at con opening ceremonies. The great hotel staff welcoming a lot of us back and happy to see us.
Did I mention Pinball... and trophy? woo!
Bazil and Remley in suit, and also helping pass some con time with their collection of games.
Crossing paths with many familiar old school fur friends from the Mass area even if just for mere moments.
Surprise running into Kobalt from Montreal too.
Con drawbacks - The registration line/process. Pre-Reg people in line were left waiting far longer than they should've, and doubly so for suckers like me who braved regular reg. Furfright should really have had this process a bit better streamlined by now, it's a more sizeable con but still manageable and certainly not an 'inexperienced newer con'. Furfright is aware of the other con tricks and secrets to a happy flowing reg line, and 2011 did not quite hit the mark.
The Friday Night Poolside Movie "Airplane" Insufficient volume and/or size of the speakers. dont get me wrong, it's a great concept, it's just an unfortunate aspect of where it happens. All or any sound that comes out of the poor sound system is no match for the combination of the high glass dome above the pool, the wide open foyer area (zoo and balcony areas included) and then add splashing pool people and chatty poolside attendees. There was practically 'no volume' to enjoy the movie.
All in All still a fun good con, just sorry I couldn't get the whole weekend in.
