Funniest ep yet? Probably! Best ep? Nope.
Animation was already good, seems even better now. Celestia especially seems to have more frames in her rig.
Liked the windmill and sun ticking like a clock. Very arty.
The bit with the doll was great.
Not a fan of excessive Twilight faces.
Everything just seemed... too much.
Maybe it's just that we've had several episodes in a row now that haven't done a lot of character, but have just done "opposite to normal" extremes of the characters. Fluttershy, breaking a bear's neck, was great, but I've got bored of the whole "opposite of shy" thing after the Gala and 2 episodes of Discord. The bear thing would have been better after a break and a return to shy Fluttershy for an episode or two.
Rarity has been in whiny mode for just as long. Let's see some more kind kind Rarity (episode 5?)
AJ still dull. You'd think the hardest working pony would be able to take her own barn down, but no, let's give RD yet another chance to rainboom and look cool. And the shades were too much.
Twilight going nuts? Far too much. Pinkie's descent into madness was more subtle and handled better. I love Twilight, she's my favourite pony, and I love her when she's sarcastic, or slightly out of her comfort zone, but the faces she was pulling just reminded me of other popular cartoons from the last decade that I never liked.
Everypony just seems to be at extremes at the moment. I miss the subtlety and the extra characterisation of the S1 episodes. So, here's hoping that things will calm down a little bit. Give me some clever humour instead of crazy.
