Pisses me off

When people have journals asking for critique and all I can see is comments going "TOO GOOD, CAN'T CRIT"
This also includes my own journals and critiques in class. I swear. If someone honestly wants to improve, THEY CAN SEE THE FLAWS. And you know, the last thing I personally want from "How can I fix this?" Is "OH STFU, IT'S PERFECT", that's, to me, like saying "Well obviously your judgement is impaired." Or "Well I don't want to hurt your feelings", or even worse "Well I want you to think I'm pretty cool."
It doesn't help me. It makes you look dumb. :I Seriously, you don't need to be an artist to notice flaws, even in GREAT art. I notice. I sometimes see famous older paintings and almost spring a leak I'm so angry with one tiny stupid detail that I bet you the artist saw AND WISHED SOMEONE HAD HELPED THEM FIX.
Even "I dunno, but the face looks funny somehow", which isn't that specific, but points out to me that I should rework a face, is better to me than telling me it looks perfect.
However, I also know that ego-patting is sometimes needed. But not when asking for critique. Critique, by definition, means "a criticism or critical comment on some problem, subject, etc." -Dictionary.com
And in the thesaurus, an ANTONYM(the opposite) for 'critique' is 'compliment' or 'praise'. So, should someone want compliments, they should probably ask what they are doing RIGHT. :I I understand that there are people who do not realize this, but this is a big PET PEEVE of mine.
As a general rule, I don't want critique unless I specifically ask for it. Just because I don't like it when good advice goes to waste, and many times I get critique on pics that are either traditional and beyond the point of fixing, or something that isn't going to be worked on further.
In the meantime, I am open for ass-pats. B) Always. Awww yeah.
Anyway, this isn't an attack on anyone. And it's not an attack on people who ask for critique or even fish for compliments. It's just...
I'm really stressed out right now and want to bitch about something without anyone outside of my friends having to learn about the shittiness that is my life right now~ Because I'm putting it behind meeee.

I'm terrible at critique for visual art. Maybe this is why I don't draw. =P If you give me something written though, I can rip it to shreds. >.>
Posts picture on Facebook - "UGH I LOOK SO FAT"
"NO BBY YOU LOOK GOOD"
"DID YOU LOSE WEIGHT?"
"NICE <INSERT BODY PART HERE>"
It's just like, nooooooo
Well, at least for the indirectly asking for ass-pats thing.
But yes, when people ask for critiques it bugs me when people say stuff like that or it's SUPER VAGUE. Like you said, though, even if it is vague it can help some. I'll admit, I've gotten a critique I didn't ask for, (then again, I never not ask for them either lol), and it got me red in the ears, but in the next pic I was remembering what they said and was like MUST NOT DO THAT.
If I want compliments, I'll be like... "Tell me I'm pretty, bitches."
And yeah, unwarranted critique just makes me mad, tbh. Though sometimes I get embarrassed, cuz it's like "His hand is on backwards"(true story, I put a hand on backwards once. NO ONE NOTICED/SAID ANYTHING THO) and I'm like "fuuuuuuuuck. >.< I know how to handssss", but that's mostly just like, stupid mistakes rather than something I need actual improvement on.
Yeah, I mean, unwarranted critique is fine with me as long as it's like, not rude, ya know? If it's mean, and I've seen it be extremely rude to some, that's not cool.
I even tell people now, I dont care how harsh you have to be, just.. point something out that I could do better at. The only one who critiques me is an artsy friend, which I appreciate her a lot. I just wish more people would atleast point something out.
Another thing is "I'm not an artist, I cant help." Yeah, you can. ;~; You have eyeees, you can help. Grr xD
And yeah, we had performing art and music students as well as painters and illustrators and sculptors, and all of them seemed to critique each other just fine!
when it clearly wasn't, and it just made me feel like I was being lied to somehow. Like, that's nice, thanks for trying to cheer me up, but I would *way* prefer someone saying "this part looks strange and it'd look better if you did this" rather than "YOU ARE DA BESTTTT".
mmph. :<
So I guess try not to get too mad, some of them are kiss ups but I genuinely think that a lot of them don't see anything wrong.
I generally ask people I trust to critique if I really need feedback on something I'm not happy with and the mass isn't helping.
