And my dog died today...
My brother found him, I went up to him next. No pulse...no breath...and just faintly warm.
I left home less then an hour ago, he was listless. But he was alive and awake.
I had to pick him up...it felt like he was just sleeping in my arms. Like he would wriggle to get free any moment. I held him as comfortably as I could. And carried him outside.
We can't keep him inside right now, and we can't bury him either because of the rain.
*sighs* Every time I open the back door to check on him....I still expect him to be looking up at me. Wagging his stubby little tail, and panting happily.
Rest in peace Hershy, the surprise cockerspanial that landed in our hands. And left just as suddenly.

I buried him today, he is in a nice and shady place in the yard. He was laid near the same gravesite as another pet that died. Ashely, the cat.
