I actually did some doodling this weekend! *triumphant pause* I finished an anthro pic and I'm about halfway done with two sketches, but I don't plan on uploading the finished drawing until I finished quite a few more... 'Cause let's face it, enormous art dumps are awesome. :P YOU KNOW YOU LOVE THEM. Expect one pretty soon!
So I could use some advice on one of the WIP sketches. I'm fairly satisfied with the anatomy, but I was told that Fyrien's, uh... *cough* balls look rather awkward. x3 I've searched around for a few references on FA, but I haven't found much to go on besides a few delightful Narse pictures. I'm not sure exactly how I can improve on what I have, so I figured I'd ask for some friendly furry advice -- any recommendations/critiques? :3 I know there are a few awkward details about this pic since it's an unusual pose.

Do you know if he's drawn any pics of ferals lying on their sides (similar position to my sketch)? It's difficult to find pics like that. -__- I could really use some references.
He definitely does; I saw a few close examples on the first page of his scraps. He has tons of pics (6 pages in gallery and 5 in scraps with 60 images displayed per page), and he pretty regularly draws ferals, so I'd find it hard to believe he wouldn't have more references of ferals lying on their sides. The hard part is to not skim past pics; when looking at pics, I find I either pay attention only to the colored pics or only to the non-colored pics but can't pay attention to each and every one.
It could also be that they look more oval and that they look as if they should be hanging straight down instead of laying on top of one another..... maybe make them bigger and fuller? xD Just throwing out some ideas.
You COULD look up canine anatomy, if you're comfortable enough that is x3
Art dumps are okay, but from you, yes they are good :D
I've been trying to find reference pics, but it's tough to find a picture of a canine (or any other animal) in this pose, whether it's drawn or a real picture. :/ The only ones I found were a few Narse pics:

Make them more round and plump looking. The loose skin between the actual testes and the rest of the body should be pulled more taught.
Also I think more detail is going to flesh it out (no pun intended XD). Can I also suggest moving the tailhole? xP
God that's such a dirty word. Tailhole. :D
Yeah, I was considering that. I dunno about more round, since testicles are generally more oval-shaped, but I think they'd look better if they were a little more plump and closer to the body.... similar to the way Narse does it. x3 Where do you suggest I move the tailhole though? I was thinking of maybe moving it up a little bit?
Well, rounder than how you currently have them but not spherical. That's actually what I'm trying to suggest too xD The tailhole shouldn't be directly under the tail. It lies closer to the tail but not under it per say. I guess in the scale of things I would suggest moving it (and this is going to sound weird causes it's 6:50 am here xD) but 40% in distance from the tail and 60% from the testicles. If that didn't make sense, I can try re-explaining!
I could also be trippin' balls becuase there isn't more fine detail. So excuse me while I be trippin' xD
And yeah, that could work, too. :3
I still need to edit it a little more, but I fixed a bunch of the small details that were bugging me.
