New England is a tree cemetery

Saturday there was a snowstorm over here in CT that lasted about a day. Not so unusual, except that it happened before the leaves had a chance to fall. The result was that about every half hour, you could hear another tree falling from the sheer weight of the snow on the leaves. This, combined with the fact that nobody bothers to trim the trees near power lines around here, resulted in power outages for roughly 800,000 people in the New England area.
We're on our 3rd day without power in our apartment. We've been stuffing our fridge and freezer with bags of snow to keep our food cool, but it is a battle we're slowly losing. My otter, Iffy, had to give his supply of refrigerated insulin to
tarucat to take to her mother's house where there was still power.
I'm currently on my laptop, using free wi-fi at a local mall that has power. We're all charging our electronic devices here. And by 'we', I mean the entire state is cramming into the mall -- its what most people without power are forced to resort to after all the hotels filled up.
So just wanted to let people know what was going on with me, because I haven't been online in a few days. According to the governor and the power company, everybody's electricity should be back on in about a week. Meaning, ours could come back tonight, or it could take another 6 days. Who knows.
I'll probably sneak online each day for a short while when I'm at the mall to recharge things.
