Reconsidering some things + SOFURRY BETA!

Turns out that my forum thread was far from successful. All it produced was a bunch of drama and a final verdict from FA's admins stating that they won't allow mature icons, and that my idea of allowing users to block mature icons would cause too much work for the admins. 'Cause, y'know... they're so busy making tons of other improvements to the site, right?
This forum conversation got me rethinking some things, however, namely my participation in the fandom. Some of the people who commented on the thread argued about whether allowing mature icons was a sensible idea, while other focused on me -- namely, how I present myself and my account to the rest of the fandom. There seemed to be a concensus that, because I didn't like not being able to display a wolf butt as my avatar, I must be a butthurt, superficial zoophile. -__- A certain user seemed to enjoy posting comments about the nature of my artwork and the information listed on my userpage in order to prove a point about how what I post influences people's perceptions of me. (Really? I hadn't noticed. ಠ__ಠ) Basically... they emphasized that I portray myself (or more accurately, my fursona) in a sexual manner to the fandom. And while I hadn't given much thought to that before this, I have to say, they're right. And I'm fine with that. *shrugs* After all, probably 90% of what I draw nowadays is mature content. I'm not here to please those who don't want to see pr0nz, and I'm certainly not striving to please the idiots that spammed up my forum post with pointless arguments. So I'm not going to change my image because they think that it's not appropriate for this site; I'll censor my icons in order to comply wth FA policy, but that's it. If I want my watchers to know my fursona is a goddamn buttslut, then fuck anyone who wants to interfere. :3 Agree/disagree?
The only good result of that forum post: One of the commenters told me about SOFURRY'S BETA SITE, which I previously did not know about. A couple years ago, back when SoFurry was still Yiffstar, I was a regular user; then they completely reworked the site and took a step backwards, in my opinion.
But this. THIS. Changes. Everything.
Make sure to watch my SoFurry account (click the link at the top of this journal to go to my userpage), because I'll likely be a lot more active over there from now on. Their beta site has so many awesome features that FA lacks, because their administrators actually update the site efficiently. No offense to FA's admins, but they're far from productive. >__> I'm still going to be active on FA, of course, but I may end up submitting more of my artwork on SoFurry. And keep in mind that SoFurry does allow mature icons, so I shouldn't have a problem selling/posting them over there. ;3

On-topic, I agree with you entirely and will swiftly move to watch your SF beta account thing. If people don't like how you roll (save for constructive criticism, which is a GOOD thing), why try and please 'em? You does what you does, and if someone doesn't like it, they can move themselves right along.
I might make a SoFurry account later on, but I dunno. :0 I have one on InkBunny that I need to re-activate or whatever. xD

I might make one! I like that you can link to a mature/adult pic without having to have an account to sign in. :3 Inkbunny is pretty nice. I like that things are organized... like I posted a 2-page comic and it's in one folder. ^^ But since SoFurry is already more organized than FA, and since you already have one, I'd say maybe not. xD
But I also rarely got on Inkbunny, so I don't know all of it's features. :0 It could be better than I think. Oh I also know that you can block things via tags, like if you don't like scat art, you could block the tag "scat."

Your question was in essence, are butt icons allowed on FA, or do they count as mature content? You acknowledged that the version with balls was mature content. All the answer had to be was "Yes, butt icons count as mature content, because of implications." end of story. Instead it turned into some argument about some mature icon system, and people thinking you were complaining about your icon being removed. You were asking a question, and yes you were upset, but you weren't asking for change, at least in the original post.

I could go on all day. I'm just confused at either their definition of mature content, or lack of enforcing it.
What really frustrated me is that someone had the nerve to call me a liar because they misunderstood what I meant about the icons. Someone linked the icon with the balls and everyone immediately thought "Wait, it has balls! He's a liar and a pervert for complaining about an icon with balls getting removed", when I clearly stated in the original post that the one -without- balls was the one in question, and that I agreed the one with balls should've been removed. -__- They also kept telling me to stop "bawww"ing, which is ridiculous. I swear, they all assumed I was saying "The admins are so unfair for removing my porn icon, I loved it so much! CHANGE THE RULES BECAUSE OF MEEEEE!"
Most of those icons are actually -more- suggestive than my wolf butt. The only difference is that they haven't been reported and removed yet. >__> I lol'd when I read my previous journal about the butt icons, because at least three of the people who commented could potentially be reported for having "suggestive" icons.
If my butt icon is considered suggestive, those could be too.
Even though I knew what you meant (due to me knowing you and reading your journals) it reads as you primarily trying to get them to change their avatar policy to include mature icons which you can toggle on and off. That's a fine suggestion, but from what I gather you meant to ask a question, not offer a suggestion.

The first one I can understand since it shows nudity (ballsack) but I don't understand the removal of my second avatar, which was the type I was planning to sell as commissions. Although it's too late now, I think that gets the general point across.
On the topic of other avatars, I continue to be confused as suggestive avatars have been floating around all over FA, regularly done in large batches, but I haven't seen anyone complain or label them mature content, unless this policy was a recent change. That's a different topic though.
Your version would have worked well as an addition to mine (but not by itself, since this was a "suggestions" forum, not for questions) -- I managed to describe the policy change I wanted, but it seemed like most people didn't understand what I meant about the icons. I think when I linked a picture of the butt icon without the balls, people though I meant -that- was the one I agreed should have been removed, so when they discovered the ballsack one, they thought I was intentionally lying or something. But whatever. That thread was a mess of people making stupid assumptions. :/
I don't get it either. I think I may still be able to use the icon without the balls... The balls seem to be what triggered all the drama because they're a blatant violation of the policy, but the butt by itself is only questionably suggestive.
Ugh I wish people would learn to ask "is this what you meant" instead of lunging immediately to make assumptions/attack.
I personally wouldn't try to push the matter (you don't want them getting upset with your icon again) as sucky as it is. Maybe you can do a more top down view of the butt instead of underneath with tail up?
Eh, I'm done arguing my case to people that won't listen. Not worth the effort. :P I might risk using the no-balls icon again just to test whether it's actually considered inappropriate, and if that gets removed, I'll try a top-down view or something similar. Or I suppose I could always make an icon of Fy's face... but where's the fun in that? xD

And yeah, it has. It used to be a cropped image of the drawing Tani made him, of his fursona sticking his butt in the air. x3 Didn't show anything mature in the icon, but it could still be considered "suggestive" according to FA's standards.
And yeah, I think the policy is a littler over-the-top, especially considering the site's primary focus.
I still want a butt icon, btw xD I'll still be buying at least one
