Halo: Anniversary
Thank you, 343, for not doing what so many others do to old games, to classics we love.
Halo: Anniversary plays exactly as it should, and is updated with content that is placed where it does best lie. If you know the campaign for Halo, then you know exactly where most of the new skulls and easter-eggs will be on the first run-though. The skulls are hilarious and deadly, and the extra content fills in the gaps that Halo could not originally do on it's own. Halo is now solidly tied into established Forerunner sagas and into Reach as much as it is to the games that come after. It does this without changing any of its original dialog and very little of its character design.
343 did good.
Downsides: Graphics are neat, and definitely make the cinematics more comprehensible and less gray-blob and the world more vibrant and alive, but they load kind of like the Halo 2 engine... If you can get over that then it's the platinum selling game that you know and love.
