FC - Part Two

Sunday. I woke up feeling a bit worse for wear, and went down to the Dealers' Den for a bit until Jurann got out of the Art Show Auction, when he came back and covered for me while I went up to take a nap. After the nap, I was feeling a lot better, so much so that I was thinking I was over it, and made plans to go to the Creators' Lounge after the DD closed to try and get some art trades in. I went down, took over the table for a while longer, and then took the last hour or so to roam the Den while Jurann took over for me yet again.
However, by the time the Den closed, I was starting to feel run down again, so instead of heading up to the Creators' Lounge, I went back to the room. I checked my FA, looked thru Jurann's art show winnings (one piece of which I was very unhappy about, but I won't go into detail on it here), and then crawled into bed, where I wound up resting fitfully, going from chills to burning up and back again.
By the time midnight rolled around, Jurann and I were hungry, and we headed down for food. By that point, I had lost my voice completely, and it was an effort to even whisper audibly. The waitress at the hotel diner was sweet, and even got me some extra soup when she realized I was sick.
In the morning, we crawled thru packing (literally for me, because I could hardly even stand up, I was so sick), but we lucked out and a bellhop came up with a cart to help us load up and get everything downstairs. Fortunately, the weather forecast was just as reliable for the drive up as it was for the way down: the so-called treacherous icy roads and winter storms and heavy snowfall turned out to be a lovely blue sky with intermittent showers and perfectly clear pavement.
A few observations on the way back: California is beautiful, California drivers are insane, and Oregon is not a windshield-friendly state. Seriously, rocks were pinging off the windshield every few miles or so.
We made it home safely, whereupon I hacked up a lung and finally got some of my voice back after a whole 24 hours of no speaking. :P My voice is all squeaky and faint now, but at least I can talk a little. I'm definitely looking forward to a good night in my own comfy bed. It's so much better being sick at home than it is in a strange hotel or out on the road...

EDIT - Oh yes, and a shout out to a few special people I forgot to mention in Part One: Kaji, it was great to finally meet you, sorry I wasn't in a better state! And Blazger, and ReDaDillio, and Corsi, and guy whose name I can't remember who got me the elderflower liqueur (which I will try as soon as I am better, I promise!), and Tursi, and the person with the goldfish crackers, and Wesha, and all the other cool people I met! It was good to see you all!

Glad you're feeling better.
Oddly enough when I don't go to a con (such as this year's FC), I get a cold instead. Go figure.
Sorry to hear you sick as well. I've been stuck up here in Vancouver in my frozen over apt in bed most of the week.
Kenji and I were tickled to have met you after all this time :) It's always great to run into an old SL friend. You and I really need to do a trade sometime, crazy tigress! Hope to run into you in the creators' lounge next year.
I hate California drivers, too :3
I noticed that, in my driving around in Cali, Lane 1 seemed to be the 10+ MPH over lane, Lane 2 was the 5+ MPH over lane, Lane 3 the speed limit or less lane, and the fourth/fifth lanes were the "Filming of Fast and Furious 4" lane(s), which is really smart right, because merging traffic is coming and OMG WTF you're doing 90+ in the merge lane! In Florida they are much the same except that they don't have a designated lane for it, the 90+ travelers use the "weaving lane". ;D
Here in Washington, things are just a royal mess because it's a melting pot, people come from all over the world to live here. There's no established system like in Cali or Michigan or Florida like I'm used to.
Makes you wonder what the hell DMV was on when they handed them those plastic cards with numbers and letters on them
Well, you avoided the evil freeways so that is good ^.=.^
Glad to hear your stay here was ok save for the icky illness you were battling.
