And not only that, as T1Weasel said, it's not like he killed and skinned a racoon for that suit. It's pixels, on a tiny screen. IT'S NOT REAL!!!!!!!!!! PETA needs to get a life, and do something constructive for once and help people in actuall needs instead of having sex with animals.

Plus, look at all the games out there that you kill real animals...like Red Dead Redemption and the Cabala series....Peta is just a bunch of attention whores and saw that the game was getting alot of attention, and tried to ride on the games media coat tails....but it backfired and Peta is getting so much heat for attacking a fiction game where Mario gets the suit from a magic leaf. They released a statement that it was just a joke, and was just for fun.....man, I fail to see the joke or humour....they are just covering up for their jack-assed attack on a harmless game.

On that note the new Jurassic Park game is probably next.

What got me was their stance on animal testing.
I can understand an argument against animal testing, even if I don't side with it. I belive the pros to animal testing vastly outweigh the negatives.

However, MaryBeth Sweetland the vice president no less is diabetic. Therefor she must inject herself with insulin to live. Insulin only came about through animal testing.

Yeah, I heard about this. A couple of weeks ago they were saying that having orcas at Sea World is slavery. It's obvious they're just looking for publicity.

They think having *guide dogs for the blind* is slavery.

I don't like PeTA, but I do think that keeping whales and dolphins in captivity is kind of messed up in a lot of ways (depending on the aquarium) and I honestly I don't see how it's different than slavery (most animal ownership can be likened to slavery, most people just don't like to look at it that way). That said I don't think owning animals is inherently wrong even though it can be considered akin to slavery when you break down what it is. There are even humans that seek out a life that is akin to slavery on purpose, because it's easier, in a lot of ways, than the complicated world we live in.

Seaworld is the worst though, they tend to cut the lifespan of most of their dolphins down to less than a third, so I straight up boycott them.

I wouldn't consider owning an animal to be like slavery. At least, not in general. Some people might buy them to put them to work. If just buying a dog is slavery, wouldn't adopting a child fall under slavery too?

Most people wouldn't consider it so because they take an emotional stance on the subject and inject ideas of what they associate with the word instead of thinking about what it means. All it means is people as property that are subject to their owners. The only thing that makes it any different for animals is that they're not human, but I don't think that's a very notable differentiation. If you want to be very lexical then, yes, the majority of children are slaves (whether adopted or born to them doesn't even matter), doubly so with the way a lot of parents are: the definition applies more to them than animals even, since the definition is about humans. This is why I specified that I don't see something inherently wrong with it though. Words are useful in recognizing the truth of something sometimes, that's all.

Are you sure about Sea World cutting the lifespan of dolphins? Since they're in captivity, they should be living longer than the average lifespan, assuming they're being treated humanely. I guess it's possible that they aren't being treated as well as they should be, but if this is the case, it's the first I've heard of the issue.

Definitely sure, in fact a lot of aquariums cut down the life span of sea life. We're good with land animals because their needs are easier to meet, not so good with sea animals because their natural habitats are complex. Sea water aquariums are usually fine though, but they won't stop wild caught (some parks still do this) dolphins from drowning themselves if they see fit to do so.

At this point I just figure that PeTA is kind of like the Onion and is just a parody of animal rights movements and they keep on trucking because they know crazy benefactors will always be there for them no matter how much hilariously stupid (or depressing in the case of their animal shelters, having the highest kill rates and all that) stuff they do.

Honestly, I think it is. When was the last time they did anything to help animals? Some of the charities they put money in to stay non-profit don't even have anything to do with animals. All they do now is stuff that appears to be a joke (and some times they even come out and call it a joke, such as the case with this game) and they make tons of money this way. They don't call out celebrities that say they support PeTA while wearing fur. They don't have to organize rallies anymore, their supporters do that on their own. All PeTA does anymore is run a kill shelter and rake in cash by doing obviously dumb stuff, which is getting them money from supporters and non-supporters alike through traffic to pages with advertising. They were also losing a ton of money and falling apart when their campaigns were more sane and made sense, so overall this has been a great move for them. It's too smart of a business strategy for me not to think they're doing it on purpose by this point and they're far from being the only ones that use strategies like this (and they're always effective).

Their motives are genuine, but their methods are basically a giant troll face designed to gain publicity, garner a response, provoke debate and most importantly gain funding.

I don't even think their motives are genuine. Like I said, they don't do anything for animal causes themselves anymore, they haven't really since the very early 90s. I think they really are just a money hungry troll face here for our amusement (and their own) now. It wouldn't be the first time an organization or business has done it, it's a very effective business strategy for making money and it's actually pretty widely employed.

Makes it all the more sick, really.

I'm all for PETA's original concept. Where they wanted to help animals who needed help, those that are vital to our ecosystem, those that are endangered, those being poached, because these animals cannot speak and cannot protest against the mistreatment they recieved.
