OK, so a friend of mine was showing me some pics, then he sent me one I thought looked like a baby fur/cub pic to me. He quickly got pissed (even if he denied it and said he wasn't, I am a good judge of emotions over the net usually, specifically when I know some one for a while) that I thought it looked like some cub art.
Now, I didn't say anything I thought was overly offensive, just I thought the pic was a bit 'pedophilic" or whatever. And he called me a pedophobe in retaliation pretty much, which, due to some issues and experiences I have had, I guess I am sorta uneasy around cub/baby furs, but still is sorta a low blow of sorts for me to call me that.

In which case, after he called me a pedophobe, the chat pretty much went like this:
Him: Just cause mice are smaller than rats, and generally depicted as small and cute
Me: well there’s is cute, and then there is "that looks like a little kid..."
Him: Well it doesn’t look like a little kid to me
Me: It's the head sorta, and also the fact that it looks like it has small breast, like a little kids. It’s just the general look of it that looks sorta like a kid.
Me: I don't expect you to see it cause you are always short and dressing in jail bait ways :P
Him: Whatevah :P
Me: I'll ask around, see if it's just me
Him: Heh whatever
Him: You know there is a difference between babyfurs and cub right
Him: Babyfurs are diaper freaks
Me: Not whatever, and yes, I do
Him: And yes whatever
Him: Why, do you not ever want to be a child again?
Me: Besides, you don't need to get so fucking pissy at me just cause I said the pic looks like it's a cub pic or whatever

Me: And truthfully, no, I’d never want to be a child again, childhood was shit for me, I didn't even get to have a childhood between all the beatings I got.

Me: Well saying whatever, that is a typical response when you are pissy and rather just try to stop the conversation right there
Him: Not for me usually, but I am becoming pissy rather quickly

Him: So before that completely happens how about I go to bed.

So, my question is, is it just me, or can the pic be taken as looking like some babyfur or cub or whatever? And after looking at the artist’s FA page, I notice it’s just their style, but I mean, if you didn’t know the artist, and just saw that picture itself, wouldn't you think it might seem like a picture of an underage fur kid?

No one likes being told they're wrong - ever. He's obviously a cub and he jumped on the defense to what he's into. I'm not really into that stuff either but.. people just gotta put themselves into others shoes before chatting sometimes. He had a pretty enjoyable childhood.. and likes the idea of being able to 'get some' at that age. You had a pretty shitty childhood - so you know in some situations that thought of 'getting it' really can be more horrifying than fun.
The line between cub and furs with animeish looking features gets so blurry that you gotta stop and say - is it worth fighting over a picture of a mouse with a fry up it's ass?

And it's not like I wanted to argue over the the pic, I made a statement, I didn't even say he was wrong, amd he got pissed, amd basically indirectly said he doesn't care about my opinion, and that /I/ am wrong, then left. If anyhting, my issue is I do put myself in other peopel shoes, but no one can see things from my side of the fance, where I always will hop over the fecne to get a look from their point of view. And truth be told, 'getting some' at that age would ahve been better, cause atleast I could pretend I was loved. =P
It was just he was sending me all types of mice pics, then that one came up, and made me feel wierd, and not well. It wasn't even arguing, it was me saying "that pic bugs me a bit" and him getting annoyed, saying whatever, and acting like I am wrong for not wantign to go "omg! *fapfapfap*" to the pic or whetever.
And yes, it is a very funny word. x3 But it was a word that, none the less, hurt me a bit.
I think the issue was you called him on liking cub stuff... potentially.. - he said 'whatever' trying to basically drop the topic... i think.. (because he probably understood its not everyones thing) but you didn't want to let it go "Me: Not whatever," So he defended it when it turned into an attack on him - or at least his his views - instead of the picture.
It's like.. suppose someone hops on my journal and starts making comments about how horrid pot is - It happens
*all* the time, I'm going to get 3 or 4 "Drugs are bad mmkay" in the next couple of days. I usually try to give a one liner to joke with them rather than argue... or I just ignore it. I KNOW it's not other people's cup of tea.. but frankly I really don't care if other people didn't understand. There's really no incentive to making people change their minds so - why bother? I get it.. that's all that matters. If that same person kept making negatory comments even after I joke it off - it'd probably piss me off. It's kinda like that - just with something you think is morally wrong (like how other people think smoking is). Heck - maybe it is.. though I'd be hard pressed to say everyone in furry should have the same set of acceptable of morals.
I wouldn't let the word pedophobe hurt you.. hell I saw that and my first thought was - that should be a shirt. Maybe throw a diaper on the 'b' or something like that?
I personally find all the baby/cub drama hilarious. It was basically nonexistant in the fandom 5 years ago. Then become a BIG deal, now.. eh. I understand where you're coming from though.. and have to admit as tolerant as I am for 'do what the fuck you want in private'... I take a step away when I see someone wearing a pacifier. I caught off guard with that in fursuit last weekend. Someone hugged me and I heard a crinkle- I didn't even think, it was like instinct, I just jumped back. Half of me wanted to apologize, and half of me wanted to give a WTF!? .. I just laughed and tried to vacate d=

And I don't think the issue was really him feeling I was calling him some one that likes cub stuff. I have a really close friend that draws real pedophilia furry art, and I will admit, some are cute or sorta hawt, and that is one of my flaws, I can't just drop something. If some one has a problem, and I jsut drop it, and don't at least try to work it out, is festers like an infected wound, and gets worse, and can lead to me not likeing them or losing their friendship.
And yeah, well I didn't get up and start saying he was a pedo, or cub art is horrible and crap, infact during the whole cub shit that made like 2/3rds of FA leave, I was one of hte people defending the art, saying it's just art, just cause you like draw it doesn't mean you are going to dress up a little kid in a fur suit and rape them. And I didn't really argue about it, all I really said was at first glance, it looked sorda cubbish to me, and he tried telling me that 100% in no way, did it looks like cub art. I wasn't trying to change his mind, but instead get him to see thigns from my shoes, as I saw it from his, and understood mice are small and ment to be cuter than rats, and the pic wasn't intended to look childish. But he didn't want to agree that, the artist, didn't do a good job portraying it in a way that the 7 other people that have seen the link other than me said it totally did look like a cub pic.
Also one flaw with your whole thing with people saying pot is bad, you are compareing people you don't know, and arn't friends with, to some one I have been friends with for upwards of a year or three, and I do care what people say when they are my friends. Plus I wasn't making negatory comments, I wasn't telling him how horrible cub art is and how sick and wrong it is he likes cub art, as I stated above, my view is quite the opposite. And the reason Pedophobe hurt a bit is, cause I have a fear/dislike of cubs and baby furs, all for a reason that isn't any of their faults, and I keep holding it agasint them cause I can't help it.
And the real baby drama didn't start till FA decided to bring up that whole 'babyfur violating the ToS' shit a while back. :P But even, what, a year or so after that, there are still people that bring that thing up, and won't shut up about it. And yeah, that would freak me out, both cause, well, I am suitphobic too, and cause the crinkling, plus some one is randomly hugging me, and that isn't soemthing I like often in RL. But there are plenty of stories I have heard of baby furs, most invovling an elevator, a long ride up, and the person pritty much falling out of the elevator, wanting to puke cause of the smell.

Yeah, it is, it has happened to several people I know, both in and out of suits. One guy, was riding the elevator with a suiter, and he smelled something bad, and he ended up smacking the suiters head so hard, it literlaly spun around backwards.
Ugh, yeah, AC is renowned for the ammount of baby furs that go there, all the stories I mentioned bout the elevators, happened at AC, or atleast most did.
