It needs to be done

From the fox's mouth
Our old dog is 14.5 years old. She can hardly get up to walk and she goes all over herself almost all the time. Today she manages to have that happen 4 times.
Mom doesn't want to put her down because "she's not ready" but if you look in that dog's eyes, she's suffering. Our old cat was far worse by the time we put him down three years ago, and we really shouldn't wait for the dog to get that bad.
It really needs to be done now. Because not only has she pretty much urinated on the whole living room (which I'm surprised doesn't smell worse), but we may as well be dwindling on the water in our well system because of the constant cleaning. I love that dog as much as anyone but enough is enough, we need to put her down. And if Mom doesn't want to budge on the issue then I'll do it myself.

i agree, something needs to be done, your dog shouldn't have to suffer due to someone else clinging onto it

your mom sounds selfish. the dog is old and it is in its' best interest to put it down. I would know. i've had a dog about as old as that once and once that started we had to put it down.
