The Passing of a Legend

Anne McCaffrey has passed away. http://sf-fantasy.suvudu.com/2011/1.....r-21-2011.html
I know that her books are popular in the fandom, I'm sure many have read them; they were my gateway into the fandom. I haven't read any for some years now, but I respect her writing talent. Rest in peace, Lady of Dragons.
Edit: Here's a good listing of books in recommended reading order: http://www.pern.nl/library/Pern_rea....._order_1.7.pdf

Yup. Met her just once, long long ago at a convention four time zones away. Between her son who is carrying on her work and that she lived a full life, I think she was pretty much ready for it. I dunno. But, maybe I should go out and read the series again - it's been fifteen to twenty years since I read any of her books.

Considering she was 85, I can't imagine that she wouldn't be at least thinking about how much longer she'd have. And I agree, I will eventually read the series again. I never read anything by her son Todd; Masterharper of Pern was the last one I think I read of that series.

Thanks for posting, she's one of the authors I really like. I'm sorry she is gone, but she did have a long life. I have read one of the books by her son, I expect he will continue to carry on her legacy of writing.

Yeah, I don't expect him to stop. I'm just not sure how good the series has become compared to when it started.
