Hey all, sooooo um fursuit
Hey all MFF was great! I picked up a director's choice award from the Art Show for my antler dream catcher which was a HUGE surprise, and it SOLD FINALLY!!! Busy busy in the dealer's den and finished up my commissions from Anthrocon. They should be scanned by sunday and sent to their prospective owners... which means I can work on my MFF stuff. Which should go much faster now that my new job is settled, the mayham in the house from my sister's wedding is about gone, and I now have a better system for getting artwork done in my house.
But I am sure MFF wasn't what drew you in here. I've finally done it... I'm getting a suit. It will be done by http://www.furaffinity.net/user/fenrirschild/ which I am super stoked about! Now the big surprise, it's not going to be my dragon. Truth is I don't think I would be able to be happy with anyone's interpretation of Sssage... and I would nit pick the hell out of it. Soooo I decided to go a different route.

I'm getting a sungazer partial! This will come with a resin cast head with moving jaw, long sleeves, and the ubber awesome armored tail. Better yet, it's not going to be made with fur but rather fleece!!! I've got a good body, no sense in hiding it under foam and fur.
There are a number of reasons I've wanted a suit that isn't my dragon.
For one Sssage really personal and it isn't something I am willing to trust another artist to do right, and it's a seriously expensive investment, so I would end up a nightmare commissioner for the artist. It would involve many many revisions... yuck and stress for both me and the artist
Sungazers are really cool looking with all the armor, horns, and spikes. And there aren't enough scalie suiters out there that aren't dragons or dinosaurs. So how about something Bad Ass with spunk and attitude.
And I want a piece of art that is driven my the artist and not so much by my own ideas. A lizard made from fleece was on Fenrir's want to make list. Giving lots of artistic control away feels less stressful on me, and I know I will be happier with the outcome than trying to match my dragon to a suit form.
It also has applications for outside the furry community. I'm a member and active volunteer for the Chicago Herpetological (reptile and amphibian) Society. It has been brought up throwing me into a frog mascot suit if the society had one. Mainly because I'm the youngest and newest board member which means they get to tease me with never going to happen threats. But even still, why not have someone in suit, it would bring more attention to the society, be inviting to get folks to stop and get a photo and take a business card for the society and maybe join and help raise funds for the many many grants we give out. That is something I can't do with Sssage the dragon. Well I will now have a Scaliesona... which means I need to start thinking about a name and persona.
Approximate start time is January, so happy birthday to me for that :)
So yeah, getting a suit, it's going to be awesome and hella complex, and it will be worth my money for both my enjoyment, the society's enjoyment, and I'd love to be an attention whore once in a while while I hide behind a mask and be someone else for a time. I mean I shouldn't need a mask to break out of my antisocial dislike of strangers and try something new, I shouldn't be so self conscious about my appearance and my acne or being nearly the heaviest person in my immediate family. I'm tall and I am thin, but having super thin and fit parents and sister doesn't help too much. I shouldn't need a suit to cast aside the few things I am unhappy about, but perhaps it can help bridge a gap and allow me to safely practice being out going, casting aside my fear that I am being judged by everyone, and feel like I am cool and fit in somewhere.

And Sssage, just so's you know, you are beautiful. <3 I don't say that just to boost your ego or asspat, I mean it. You're a lovely lady.
I'm really glad that I was able to hang out a bit with you, not behind the dealer's table. I'll take a picture of the badge you did for me and upload it soon.
(and I agree with above post, you are pretty.)
I love that you are having a suit that is duel purpose and basically 'right up your alley' in regards to the use of it. Just great for you and them!
I hope that you have a good turkey day!
