I agree that she was fantastic and inspirational - I probably wouldn't have ever gotten into writing if it wasn't for the Dragonrider series that I devoured back in the day.


And today's dragons in the furry community owe her a lot, too. As I said, she was one of the major storytellers that showed dragons in a positive light. (Back in 1967 the first book, wow!)

Prior to that, dragons were evil, man-eating creatures that were terrifying and destructive - the embodiment of the devil.

She brought them forward to what they should be. Well, except for the "mount" concept. =p

I was so sad when her son took over her series, an this just makes me even sadder. She was my absolute favorite author growing up, ant THE REASON I learned to draw dragons

I am so sorry to hear of such a tragic death of an author who looked past the typically stereotyped evilness of dragon and made them good in her own thoughts and mind. Thank you for sharing this as I now really want to sit back and read her book! Thank you...
