RIP Anne McCaffrey
General
Anne McCaffrey has died on Monday.
She was the author of the Dragonrider of Pern series - one of the first series of books I came across as a kid that painted dragons as good creatures.
(There was still a lot of Dragon = Evil crap going on in the 80s)
RIP Anne, you made the worlds a better place for Dragons. Even with your Thread.

(And for those who have never read any of the DragonRider books... Get off of your arses and do so!)

Sad though that she's dead. RIP author lady!
And today's dragons in the furry community owe her a lot, too. As I said, she was one of the major storytellers that showed dragons in a positive light. (Back in 1967 the first book, wow!)
Prior to that, dragons were evil, man-eating creatures that were terrifying and destructive - the embodiment of the devil.
She brought them forward to what they should be. Well, except for the "mount" concept. =p
I was so sad when her son took over her series, an this just makes me even sadder. She was my absolute favorite author growing up, ant THE REASON I learned to draw dragons
I need to read her books... RIP Anne, may you find a better world than the one you left.
