Disclaimer: From this point forward, any journals I deem to be my ranting about family woes, or just generally me being emo, I will not post here but instead in my Livejournal and link to it here. You can comment there or here.

My mom took all the money I had saved for a car and only found out about it around the time I found a car that I could afford. I had a duel account with here where I couldnt take money out without her signature but she could do anything apparently. I had over 2000$ saved up over the course of a couple years when I was in high school. When I found the car she told me there was only 50$ left. When I asked where it went she told me it went to bills... mind you my mom smokes like a chimney, at the time she and my grandmother smoked 5 packs A DAY between the two of them, and if she didnt she wouldnt have had to dig into my money, if she didnt smoke in general we would have a lot more money all these years. She yelled at me that she needed it for bills and she felt really bad but there was nothing she could do about it. I have never seen even a tiny bit of this money come back to me. If you broke the financial tie with her you will probably have a better relationship with her regardless of how much or how little you speak to her. My relationship with my mom was better once that happened and I moved out of her house.
And also you really need to prioritize things. All these furmeets cost money. Yes they are fun but it's time maybe you think about not going to so many of these until you've got a steady place of employment. It sucks but that's the choice you have to make if you want to truly be on your own and financially independent. Part of becoming an adult means sometimes you can't always do the things you want because you have responsibilities. You're already on loans (which need to be paid back) and using credit cards (which still have crazy interest added with paying them back) and you're too young to be so in debt already, its hard to get out especially in this recession.
I know it's none of my business but it's some advice as someone who's gone through similar transitions as you have with college and getting out from under the parents. And advice from someone who's struggling like most of America is right now with bills and things due to this cruddy economy. *hugs*
