Stop Online Piracy Act (Hint: DESTROY IT)

I knew from the start that this bill had to be DoA (Dead on yer ass) at all costs, but it's worse than I thought.
Lost: TYT Member since August 2009.
EDIT: I sent this to the stop censorship campaign.
Piracy is bad, and as a writer and artist, I'd be upset if anyone ever pirated my stuff, which is an inevitable truth. However, this doesn't give anyone the right to destroy what the internet is, which is the new generation of innovation and free speech.
To pass this bill is to destroy what our country was based upon. It destroys free speech, allowing politicians or the corporations or private investors that buy them to shut down entire sites just because words hurt their feelings. It also destroys capitalism, since this also dictates who is allowed to make money based on their innovations and ideas.
The competition is a good thing. It forces corporations to rejuvenate their business with fresh ideas. If you don't have good ideas, or you don't bring anything new to the table, and your ideas are stale and obsolete, then you lose business. This is a fact of life. You don't get to go and change all the rules of the system so only you are able to make money.
I have no way to convince you otherwise. You either think this is a noble cause, just like temperance movement believed Prohibition was a good idea, or you're just speaking on behalf of who gives you paychecks, thus making you a prostitute and political mercenary. Whatever way you cut it, this crusade to destroy what the internet is to preserve what the internet is supposed to be about is a fool's errand.
You will not win. The innovators and entertainers online are speaking out against this. Their voice will resonate with more people than you can imagine, and the American people will strike down this bill for the cyanide capsule of free speech that it is. Pass this bill, and the Occupy Movement boogeyman that makes the Wall Street investors wet their beds at night will be a mote of dust compared to the cosmic-scale hurricane that you will have brought upon yourself.
Abandon this crusade, senators, because, italics: YOU WILL NOT WIN.
