Am I the only one here who thinks this whole exchange wasn't "hilarious"? And no, that doesn't mean I think art theft is okay, and no, I don't think that means kids should only get a slap on the wrist when they do something wrong, and no, I don't think anybody who does find it funny is a monster.
But I'm not the kind of person who laughs when someone falls down, even if they fell trying to trip someone else. Am I the only one?

She just needs to be banned from the site and learn that stealing art and lying is wrong. She really does need to just say sorry, take down her art, ignore the posts, and move on - or she's going to be meme-ed to death.
But she certainly is asking for it, as I was. She has apologized and taken down the art, actually, but she's just too young to know that the best way to stop the situation is to ignore it.
I suppose I just imagining these adults in the real world sitting there and arguing with a 12 year-old for an entire hour.
i just posted a rather long comment about it all. i dont find it funny thats for sure. and sure that Silk_rose person appears to have screwed up. but thanks to all the"BURN THE WITCH!" propaganda the whole thing has turned into a drama fest and they all look bad because of it...just sitting there pointing fingers at each other.
i do have to admit the idea of adults arguing for hours with a 13 year old is pretty funny. but it certainly doesnt help the fandom's appearance to society if what outside people see is a bunch of drama whores >>
Woah, three replies from one person at once. Take that,
While there's certainly something to be said about adding to the drama by bringing this up (for both of us), I think a lot of it needs to be said. I mean, come on, of course this girl's going to insult everyone's intelligence in her attempted defense. She's just a kid. That's what kids do, they lie indiscriminately when they're backed into a corner.
This back-and-forth argument was absolutely ridiculous in that context. I don't think you can just brush off this level of immaturity by saying something like, "Oh, she did wrong, and needed to be taught a lesson," because quite a lot of it had nothing to do with teaching a lesson. It was just silly.
Though we're all dangerously close to slipping into the drama maelstrom going on, I think there's still lots of room for rational discussion about it. I must say, for instance, that
yeah, that "adding to the drama" factor, which would kinda make me a bit of a hypocrite, almost kept me from saying anything at all. and yeah she's a kid so she's gonna make up something in her defense, i know i did at that age, we all did. and as you said. its "just silly", and thats an understatement.
but Zek! who wants rational discussion when we can all point fingers and bitch at each other until we're blue in the face?! lol
yeah, she did take it rather well, her being the alleged victim and all. though im not really sure of the humor they see in this either. only humor i see in it is a rather annoying dragged out argument that i wish i just had never known about to some extent.
Well, while the best way to let drama die is to stop posting, in cases like this, it isn't going to help much... either everyone is going to weigh in with their opinion (or in some cases blind or biased support/defense), or the main players are going to keep at each other until one of them finally gets tired and stops.
Rational discussion? Madness! LoL. It can be hard to tell who actually enjoys mudslinging and who just wants to push their opinion and not back down, often merely because another person doesn't agree with them. Then you get all the ironic "I'm entitled to my opinion!"s, and it tends to sort of break down from there into simple insult exchange, provided it goes on long enough.
To be fair, I think rational discussion is difficult, especially online, where you don't have a face to be polite to. And also, obviously, if you're emotionally involved. Though the fact that fans of
As it is, it seems to have passed by the wayside, so that's good. I do hope something like this is handled better in the future, though.
