The Currently Best Picture or TCBP.
It's more of a survey about your tastes rather than contest but
you may win a free picture, nevertheless!
Rules are simple - show me what is, in your opinion, the best picture
on FA that you've saw recently. Nothing more, nothing less.
What I mean by "the best"? I don't know. Whatever. The general
rule is to post what you've found to be "the best" and not what
you'll think I will like the best. Be honest.
Now, what I mean by "currently"? Let's say artwork you've found
during last month.
Have-a-ho(e)!
Update, update!
- First thing - new contest -
As you can see above, there is a new contest. The prize is still the same,
which is a free picture with one or two characters, fully colored & shaded.
The only thing that changes are terms of participating and winning.
I have to remind you that no one won the previous contest which rule
was to send links to funny stuff - movies, games, pictures, etc.. Unfortunatelly,
none of these materials were able to make me laugh. Let's see then if your
aesthetic tastes when it comes to art on FA will fit mine.
- Second thing - virgin auction -
I made this thing, to be honest, just for kicks - quote "I don't know if this
sh*t will fly". But it worked better than I expected.
As for now, the highest bidder is :
evilguyv20And the current bid is 65$.
The auction is still open for those who are interested - if you want to increase
the bid and win some untouched 'n' pure virgin for one night - go right ahead!
Notice that the Batgirl which virginity the highest bidder will be taking is
still unnamed. Thus, I thought I'll add a little bonus for the
winner of this auction - the winner of the auction will have the honor to
name the Batgirl.
- Third thing - Skyrim... and gaming industry -
Popular topic these days, ain't it? What can I say? It's good. It's very good.
But the most important thing about it, is the fact that it proves that there
is a very high demand for big, long games, without multiplayer. Besides,
Skyrim shows a big "fuck you" to stealing, thieving, greedy fuckers in
the industry that want to farm money on short games and DLC's for them.
Bethesda game is big even without any DLC. Compare it to another game
for which I waited - "Saint's Row 3". There were commercials for DLC's
EVEN BEFORE THE GAME WAS RELEASED! And consider the fact that the
vanilla game is shorter than "Saint's Row 2" which was, on it's own,
a very short game. Compare it to "Battlefield 3" or "Modern Warfare 3"
which developers and publishers hide behind the explenation "but it's a
multiplayer game" which, in fact, isn't any explenation at all. Dear
devs, dear publishers, explain me then why you've bothered with single player?
Let me anwser that for you - to sell the game. The first "Battlefield" that
has single player was "Bad Company" which was also the very first game
in the series on the consoles. And that is exatly why it had to have single player -
because otherwise, it wouldn't sale well. On consoles. The very fist in the series,
"Battlefield 1942", sold well for it's time. The Digital Illusions CE, more
commonly known nowdays as DICE ratings went almost sky-high, which gathered
the hungry stares of a publisher which CEO's wet dream is to be a monopoly on the
publishing market - Electronic Arts. Activision is no better in this area, but let's leave
it at that - I ranted long enough.
Thus, I congratulate Bethesda. Chapeau bas!
And I cross my fingers for the next Elder Scrolls game to be about Elsweyr.
- Fourth thing - other stuff -
I guess I should wish you a merry Christmas since I don't know if I'll post
another journal in this month. Thus, Merry Christmas, spot-on presents from and
for those that you care about and peace of mind and soul.
I also have to thank - no - I want to thank all of the folks out here on FA
that commissioned me. The fact that tere are some folks willing to pay for my
drawings and the fact that they indeed like what I can give to them is very
gratifying. Thank you a-ton, folks!
I also want to thank those that like my art, but do not invest in me for some reason.
Deep inside I like to think that they just care about my health and that they don't
want me to spend too much cash on wasting myself to the point of vomiting my bowels
out in some rat-infested gutter. Believe me, I don't it that often, so feel free
to invest your precious cash in me. :D
Thanks to all of my watchers, commentators and those that favourited my stuff.
It has been a great year.
FA+

thanks for hearing my opinion ^_^
I sold my Xbox 360 and bought a better graphics card for it. The only thing I regret is the fact that I can't play Virtua Fighter 5 anymore. :(
If you want to know, I bought my current PC in 2009 for 310$ and it can run Skyrim on Ultra Details. I bought it part-by-part and assembled it myself. It was cheaper than buying console and games for it, in my opinion and in opinion of my wallet. But I can't say how the matters look where you live, because, overall, consoles and games for them are more expensive in my country.
I got my PC 6 years ago, for £750. It can run Oblivion on high-end. It can run Mass Effect 1, but not 2. It cannot run Skyrim. Upgrading the CPU would run me £70, the video card roughly £50, the memory would be another £35.
I made the choice based on what was most efficient for me financially and what best matched my gaming habits and playing style. If that choice 'bugs' you, that's your choice and I wish you well with it. Take care.
In my case, I bough my 360 Elite for £268, early in 2007. Now you can buy a new one, Slim model, for £115, thus, as you may figure, I had to sell mine for price that was lower than this. It was one of the worst deals I've ever made, gotta admit to that.
Every new game for Xbox 360 costs about £38-40 in my country. Skyrim was for £38. Now, new Skyrim for PC costs £23. And new games from PC start even from £10 up to £23 to maximum £38, but that's only if they're PC exclusive, like Starcraft 2, for example. Even so, the latter cases are pretty rare.
Thus, from finnancial side, getting a high end PC was more cost-effective in a long run. I can't argue about "gaming habits" because that's a personal thing.
It's just the fact that I still play Morrowind, a game that's 10 years old, with mods that enrich pretty much everything, including graphics, that in some aspects looks even better than the vanilla one in Skyrim. I couldn't have them on any console. Morrowind was released for the very first Xbox, also 10 years ago. And now, neither the console itself has any support nor the game while the PC version has thousands, if not millions of mods, correcting, enhancing, enriching or just making the game more stable.
That is why it bugs me. Not because you can have better graphics, which is usually the main argument of the PC owners, but because you can return to the game after ten years with mods and find it as fresh or even better than on a date of it's release. With tons of new content, be it cities, races, quests, NPC's, etc. It's the greatest strenght of The Elder Scrolls series, in my opinion.
Also - from a Jew living with a black guy - Merry Christmahannukwanzikah!
I'm missing out on the adventures of Skyrim D:
And I agree with your opinion on the gaming industry. The whole mass multiplayer is getting old and boring to me. I prefer sandbox and RPG games like Skyrim and Fallout, as well as GTA. Also, Assassin's Creed is amazing!
And Merry Christmas to you! :D
May get a surprise from me!
I dunno why...its just so detailed, both the character, and the background.
Also, YES! Elsweyr! Khajit!
Mostly because the artist put so much thought and effort into the symbolism of the picture. I gave it a decent picking apart in the comments.
Also as for Skyrim I entirely agree. It's why I loved Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and Final Fantasy games. The only thing is that I really *really* dislike Bethesda's user interface for Fallout 3 and Oblivion so I've been hesitant to pick Skyrim up for fear it will be similar.
UI in F3... I didn't liked it at first, but it grew on my after a while, so I can't say if there are mods for it, but quite obviously, they are.
In terms of immersion, IMO, the solution with a game interface on your wrist(Pipboy) helps to maintain it.
