I'd tried navigating the rough waters of long-term writing, and your delays are understandable: the more of the story is poured unto digital paper, the more precarious your next step becomes. At first, it's nothing more than a starting marker and an idea in your mind to flesh out, but the further you venture forth, the more dividends you are obliged to pay to what has already been written to preserve the consistency and prune the continuity. Before you know it, you find yourself sneaking around a glass castle with leaden boots on, searching for that last corridor that would enable you to draw breath again, look over your shoulder and see the monolith of a finished piece. True, usually it would be full of flaws that you didn't notice before now that you're looking at it from afar, but it'd still be complete.
