Department of labor? Careful though. You might get fired for "troublemaking" (that is, trying to get paid for hours you work) so you might want to talk to a union rep or labor lawyer first. Make sure you know what you'd be spending and whether or not that's more than what you'd be being paid.

I'd let it go unless it's getting into 10 or more hours a week. They might get rid of you for going against them and I just don't see it as worth it. unless you're losing a shit ton of money on it.

They are also paying us 25 cent less than minimum wage per hour. There are some injustices against me I can handle, but swindling me out of money when I am being subjugated this way is not one of them.

Besides, if those two things are wrong and I just sorta barely looked for it, how much else can be wrong? I've had a friend making the same money as me owe the government over $3000 in taxes because of an employer's dishonesty. And if "following the rules" makes me a "troublemaker", then I suppose I'm okay with troublemaking. Now is the best time to do it, after all. I have almost no financial responsibilities. Hell, I was planning on saving up and getting laser eye surgery, or starting a tattooing apprenticeship.

An attitude of "oh well, it's just a little money", just doesn't sit with me anyway, and frankly I'm appalled that it seems to be what everyone is saying.

And the thing is that they've been warned by corporate that they are required to have managers on duty at all times, but on the best days, 2pm is when the last manager ducks out, because the owners, who own a good number of stores, not just this one(so I can't imagine they are having too hard of a time) are too cheap to train another one.

I guess I'm just sick of basically whoring myself out for nothing. And just sucking it up and saying "life isn't fair, I just got the shit end of the stick" won't change my situation. I've let a lot of shit go, but this place is really fucking backwards, and it doesn't help that my coworkers are lazy, incapable, uncooperative, or a mix thereof, and the only people I have to turn to are my grandparents who insist on treating me like an eight year old.

I know a little of it is simply vindictive, but you know, it's just bullshit that someone working for a well-known corporation like that can just fucking walk all over people because they probably think no one would BOTHER. Well someone has to bother and it might as well be the one person who just wants a fucking vacation and has a secondary means of scraping by if needed.

Life isn't fair, but that doesn't mean I gotta bend over and take it. B( I keep it all in all the time, but I hate being a doormat. So yeah. Someone is going to hear about this, and no oneis gonna get punched in the face, because that is assault. At least I'll be doing things legally.

Or since you coworkers are lazy and the store needs a new manager...channel your energy and see if you can make something better for yourself. Perhaps if you approach the owners and about needing another manager in the store and that you would like to try your hand at it. Considering what you've told me, your coworkers probably would straighten out if the had someone to lead them...like you. You've been given a turd, now start polishing.
