Reminds me of an old wargame called Ogre. Ogres, or cybertanks, to use the 'proper' term, were basically an exercise in battle planning by design. The 'question' was 'how much weaponry and armor can you pile onto one unit before it becomes a strategically valid target for an ICBM?"

The came itself is asymmetric warfare; the defending player has a collection of light and heavy armor, infantry, and combat hovercraft, the attacking player has one unit. It's an even match. The MK V Ogre (the biggest 'canon' design) Caries two main guns, six support guns, six medium range tactical nuclear missiles, 12 defensive gins (anti-personal weapons), and it can accurately fire all that ordinance at multiple target simultaneously.

Needs more Dakka.

Any more Dakka and it would be cost-effective to fire Cruise Missiles at it, turning it from a charging engine of destruction into a very expensive shooting gallery target.

I don't think a 500000-ton ship would be able to do anything even remotely resembling "charging"....

Oh, I thought you were commenting on the Ogre CYbertank I had described.

But yeah, once you get to that level of displacement, the things can only plod along like a pregnant cow, and even if it spends a few days moving in a straight line to build up speed, the thing probably can't steer well enough to avoid hitting an island spotted on the horizon.

Not to mention that it would be REALLY hard for something that heavy to slow something down, once it gains inertia. XD

Hence my mention of islands on the horizon as navigation hazards. That thing might hit the beach on 'Leper Island' (the smallest of the Hawaiian chain) tear through to the other side, and smash into the next island in line.

I'm not sure if you could put this together in Springsharp. (I think the KM Fuhrer battleship with Dora superguns was a bit out of range of the software.)
