Fuck Space Coast Credit Union
I got a check from the wedding for $100 and it was addressed to my husband and I with my new last name. I put it in the ATM and signed it as my account's name (maiden name). With this money I had enough to pay my car insurance. They sent it back because my husband didn't sign it. Progressive tried to withdraw payment twice, and that ended up in TWO non-sufficient fund fees. I would think that once my account hits negative, the credit union would be smart enough to NOT LET ME KNOW I HAVEN'T ANY MONEY A SECOND TIME. This put me in the hole $40 and I asked several times to remove the second fee at least. They won't remove any because I already had a NSF fee earlier in the year, which is because I accidentally hit Fast Fourty which automatically removes from checking and not savings.... I never have money in checking unless I'm paying with a check. Why did the ATM say, "oh hey, you can't do that" instead of giving me money anyway?
So, the reason that they yanked the check out from under me like a carpet was because my husband didn't sign. OK. I got the check in the mail, he signed it, I turned it in again. I see NON NEGOTIABLE ITEM and -$100 yet again. I call up today and this time it's because the account is for my maiden name, and the check is not. They can't help me about this over the phone. They're mailing the check back tomorrow... they can't hold it for me. I have to wait until my marriage license comes in the mail to change anything... I have a hundred dollars that's just sitting there uselessly. I have some weird feeling that the check is going to bounce when I finally get it to go through on our end.
SCCU BETTER THANK GOD THAT I GOT PAID TODAY OR I WOULD HAVE BROUGHT SOMEONE BIG DOWN ON THEIR ASSES. BBB. FBI. SOMETHING. THIS IS A RETARDED REASON TO NOT BE ABLE TO GET MY GIFT MONEY THAT I WAS DEPENDING ON FOR BILLS.
I'm getting this fixed, making sure that Progressive is paid, and moving my money to Community Credit Union because I've heard nothing but good things of them.

FA+

Although I'd change banks, I try to let the folks know about stuff like weddings in advance so they know to expect name changes.
Ours was pretty cool about my wife changing her name because we warned them about it.
My car insurance, phone bill, power, etc. all automatically bill to my credit card. Then I only have to make that one payment every month, and if I dispute something, at least I can hang onto my money until it gets resolved.
Credit cards require some willpower to not spend money you don't have, but that shouldn't be a problem for you. Good luck changing banks; this SSCU sounds sleazy. Charging you fees because of a mistake THEY made? Fail.
I switched to Suntrust
Yea I NEVER use Automated Payment things...
Anyway snugs hang in there
