I don't really get the whole "adoptables" thing either, but I usually see them for anywhere from $1 to $10, and it's usually an artist-made template that gets colored in any number of ways. some people do "custom adoptables" for an extra fee to color it to specifications, while others do "custom adoptables" that imho are just regular commissions.

I think the deal with them is that whoever buys your "adoptable" then "owns" the character and any rights to use, modify, get commissions of, etc. that particular design. I have seen lots of people buy adoptables and then do nothing with them, so idk. I think I have seen some artists state that if you don't produce a new, original piece of your adopted character within x timeframe, they will put the design back up for sale.

I know, right?! I just don't GET it. o_o I have loads of *COUGHCOUGH*pony*COUGHCOUGH* ideas, but I don't necessarily want a stable of characters (hahaha... pun totally intended). If someone wants to buy them, I wouldn't mind, but I don't know what the ins and outs are for such a transaction.

ponies being as they are, I bet if you posted up a page of adoptable ponies, they'd sell? I don't really understand the trends with these things, I have seen some questionable-quality ones sell like hot cakes while other really good ones (and similarly priced) sit forever. IT MAKES NO SENSE TO ME

Yeah I dunno, I think it's like creating a character and then selling off the copy-write to them or something. I'm horrible at character design so I guess I can see why people might want to do it if they're using said character in a larger project or something. *ponders* But nothing too too much! Well I dunno how 'official' the whole thing is. I can't imagine if you bought an adoptable and then put it into some full length animated movie that the original artist isn't going to start bitching and wanting part of the cut. Hehe. :D

I have a friend who just started doing adoptables. I'll as her what it's about but I think it's just a flash in the pan and the craze will die down after a bit.

Nabyn certainly looks interesting, but I don't think I'd do it much justice! :) Motivation for "original art" has gone down or maybe I just don't have an abundance of time at the moment. I just have a load of ideas that I want to pump out in generic form (which is sadly, the official MLP style). ;) Thanks for showing it to me though! *bookmarks*
