Congress has lost it's mind.

on my tumblr now, going on the SOPA PIPA rant too!
"Okay, So SOPA and PIPA are the newest retard bills being put before congress, who some members still think the Internet is operated by wizards or is witchcraft. (not exactly true but they honestly know nothing about the Internet at all)
Sadly, the bill passed that gives companies the same rights as a person. So when are we gonna stop that serial killer/rapist Viacom? (explanation: Viacom has had many companies shut down forever, effectively “Killing” them. And has been known to do hostile take overs of companies against them and forced mergers to take them over… So if a company doesn’t want to be merged with Viacom, Viacom forces them to be. if companies are people, sounds a bit like kidnapping and rape. (again the idea of a company being a person is just, stupid, so I’m pointing that out with just as stupid an argument) will Viacom be held responsible for their crimes? Or is this a loose psychopath who will continue to murder and rape other companies?
Okay now onto the douchebaggery of SOPA and PIPA…. the name for one is stupid… but from what I understand of the bill…
(example): a murderer breaks into your home with a knife and murders everybody you know, the courts do charge the man who committed the murder with a lesser charge, while the knife he used gets the death penalty. (companies are people, why not weapons?)
So they will block the DNS servers hosting the site that may or may not infringe copyrights (there isn’t any checking into the claims at all, it’s just immediately blocked) So this stops the infringement by destroying the site hosting it violating the safe harbor laws which do not make the main site liable (again my stupid example, this is blaming the knife for the murder and not the man who wields it). So far most sites are good about policing themselves and removing content, which ACTUALLY infringes on copyrights due to the host site ensuring the claim is true first.
This bill won’t stop Piracy, and there is no evidence to suggest that Piracy is on a sharp incline that would warrant such a foolish law to even be considered.
The truth is, (don’t ask me for Powerball numbers… I am not psychic) SOPA will not pass… If it ends up going before congress again it will be shot down good right? WRONG.
SOPA and PIPA are identical bills. It’s the old put up one bill that is sure to get shot down, while the 2nd one is more likely to get voted in. PIPA is the bigger threat, what would happen if SOPA gets passed is the same with PIPA. But public knowledge of the PIPA bill isn’t as great as SOPA."
