Apparently someone saw fit to send 
eliki a message to the effect that if he messed things up with me, they'd break his legs.
I don't know who sent the message, or what their intention was, so I'm just going to put this out here for the world in general. Whether or not this person meant well, I do not appreciate threats toward Eliki or toward anyone I love and care for, and I find it very upsetting that anyone would say such a thing to him. Eliki and I are both reasonably mature adults and we've known each other for years, so I think we can handle our own affairs. I think our friendship, and our love, is strong enough to handle any problems that might come along.
Also, because it came up, I do love him and I am loyal to him. I don't mind a bit of flirting, especially from friends, but that's as far as anyone else can go. Sorry, guys, but that's just how it has to be.

Agreed. I might be a bit of a shameless tease, but that doesn't mean I'm not loyal at the core. You needn't worry about that!

I don't know who said it, or why, but I thought I might give a little insight to another reason why it might have been done. ^^ I have overly protective older brothers, so I can understand why someone might say something so severe.
Personally, I think that if someone needs to have their (proverbial) legs broken, it's the one who made that threat to Eliki. Intruding into other people's relationships, internet or not, is the privilege of the closest and by definition, "internet friend" cannot be truly close.
As for your point about internet friendships, I'm inclined to agree for the most part. I do think that they can turn into real friendships, as my relationship with Eliki has proved. But we've known each other for years and traded letters and packages along with everything else. Someone who has done no more than watch a user on FA, and maybe sent them a few notes or comments might be a friendly acquaintance, but they're a long way from being close enough friends to someone to be able to butt into the other person's love life like that.
Too many people here in furry fandom confuse "having rubbed elbows with" with real friendship.
