Film Discussion: True Grit (the Remake)

I hadn't seen this film before, but ended up liking it a lot. Save for some parts which were questionable to me (like prolonging the drama of whether the girl would live or die, considering how she's narrating the beginning of the film like she survived the ordeal) or what seemed to be green-screen horse riding at the end... the cinematography was superb and really put you in the period. Matt Damon didn't take me out of the film nearly as much as I'd thought he would, though I'm still not sure the mustache worked.
All in all, I'd give it a 7/10, and I'm happy to have seen it but I'm not sure it's a movie I'd see again anytime soon.

cinematography was top notch. they did a great job harkening back to the days of country westerns. makes me feel like doc brown
BECAUSE they've had so many great transitions and long shots and everything else great about their movies that still pulled me out of it :P
Though going on what you said about that scene, I thought it was an important part of the character development for Bridge's character, just to show how far he'd go to ensure her survival even if he's under contract. Just my opinion of course. :p
