Art theft has to be one of the biggest issues facing any online community. That's why I came over here from deviantART in the first place, because over there my art was being stolen left, right, and center. More communities should adopt TOS like that. All it would take would be a few people being called on it, and art theft would all but vanish. I say "all but" because a lot of people are idiots, art thieves doubly so, and don't learn.
oh i know they do. their tos pretty much says they dont care and wont take any action if someone is concerned about unlawful use of their property. hell it even had some language in it last time i read it that implied they could use anyones art at any time for their own advertising. neato.
If they plan to use it as an excuse to avoid lawsuits, they've got another thing coming. Then again I left DA and never came back, though I pop up on extremely rare occasions.
i left them too. i dont trust their corporate asses. its not good form to have features on your website for free, than take them away and ask for money to give them back.
you dont care when something someone draws for themself of someone else sometimes even for money someone else uses without permission for their own amusement or even profit? really?
uh no. it cheapens your product. this is sort of an obvious argument. plus if someone downright states that they do not want their images redistributed, witch IS illegal already, its pretty fuckin rude to do it anyway, especially when they cut out the signature and dont give credit so its not even yours anymore.
i sure as shit dont want my art used by anyone without permission! ive found it used before though. its not about money all the time. sometimes its about respect. is that too crazy of an idea?
also if in the case of art theft outside of social networking dumps, when art is stolen and profits are made from it, that money is partially the artist's. royalties are very real.
Well i dont care if any of my pictures are put up as myspace photos, if anything it would just give you more attention and might get you more commissions, even if your signature is taken off. I can understand if someone is making prints of your art and selling them, but if they are acctualy making money off of it, you should have been selling prints yourself
I guess dA promotes art theft...
Art theft is like cable theft.
Victimless
