So i just finished the The magician king by lev grossman. I absolutely loved the first installment of the series The magician, but the sequil left me with a bitter taste in my mouth by the time i finished reading it. It lacks Magic, It felt to me like the book lacked substance and real character development. In contrast to the first book, this characters of this seemed, just different to me. And the ending -shudder- was horrible, i was legitimately angry and depressed at this ending, it seems like a more sophisticated version of an ending in one of the twilight novels, just terrible. I expected to find something deep in this book, but got nothing of the such, only that the fact that the hero Quintin always ends up being the martyr somehow, and the fact that it randomly divulges into Julia's plot line was kinda weird to me, i always found myself skimming over those various chapters of the book. After being super hyped up about the first one, excited to see them return to fillory, i find myself wishing that they stayed on earth, it might have been more interesting to hear about quintins desk jockey job. Well, sadly enough with the end being a fucking cliffhanger, i have mixed feelings about the third installment of the series. Ill end up reading it, and if its this terrible, i am done with lev grossman -shakes fist at-.

but ya, that was my book rant. I would recommend the first book in the series, just omit the last 20 pages or so and end it there. Borrow this book! dont buy it.
