At work we are now carrying some low wattage solar panels. Its been dead slow so i've been thinking of differnt power comfigurations. I've worked out how to set up 3 dpdt swithes so that I can swap 4 panels between 4x1, 2x2 and 1x4. This would let me choice the best configuration for power.
The other thing i stumbled upon was a post on how to setup a lead acid battery to charge from one panel. The guy ran into an issue that the diode he used to prevent the battery from discharging into the solar cell didn't let the battery fullr charge. I looked up and found a latching relay that would replace the diode for about 7.50.
Now that i've typed this i need something else to do.

The idea of doing a solar/battery powered data logger like the one guys project but I don't have any need for one. The only people I know that could use one finished that project years ago.
I have to say the more I think things over the switchable panel setup the more i see it might not add any extra efficiency. I spotted these before I left work:
