Australian Government + Video Games = FUCKED UP LAWS!
So I just saw a trailer for a new game called, Syndicate. I loved the look of it and I wanted to get it. So I checked a few websites to see how much it was and guess what? They don't sell it, because the game is banned in Australia. The law that is banning these games is from 1995. 1995! That's last fucking century! LAST CENTURY!!! The Australian Government is just so fucked up and craving for so much more power over Australian Citizens. I betcha who ever brought in this law is between 40-70 and soo caught up with the stupid idiocy of the 20th Century that they don't want Australian adults buying these games because younger kids might see the adults play it. So fucking what?! That's the adults problem! If they're going to play a game that is adults only, then it's they're responsibility to not let the kids watch them or something even simple is this. Play it when the kids aren't home and if a kid ask's for a game that is too violent or out of their age restrictions, then the parents should be watching them play it and keeping an eye on them. Simple as that. All I can say now is that Australia is more fucked up than I initially thought.
This is the report about the game, 'Syndicate'.

That decision is from December 2011. It was too much for an MA rating, unfortunately.
But with the new R18 rating coming in, Syndicate will be able to be released here.

Of course, having grown up playing the original Syndicate, the teasers for the new one really disappoints me anyway; Completely different game, just milking the name and nostalgia value.
But that's a different story.
TL;DR Australia is getting an R18+ classication, so it'll be released. That's an old report.
I myself haven't played Syndicate before, so the new one looks really good. Same as DNF. I've never played any of the other Duke games, but when I played DNF, I thought it was awesome! x3
Ah well, wishful thinking that the ALP can do something besides have bitter feuds to change leaders. ><
As to how long? Technically the first pushes for it came in 2008, but our (South Australia's)
stupid fucking cuntstain motherfucking waste of oxygen'honourable' Attorney General decided to block the move.(Changes to national guidelines like ratings require a unanimous "yes" vote from all of the State's Attorney Generals. Michael Atkinson, for SA, played the "won't somebody please think of the children!" lunatic - single-handedly fucking it up for the entire country. After a massive backlash against him - an incredible 15% swing against him! - in the 2010 election, he stood down as Attorney General. His replacement had a clue and didn't object, hence the new laws coming in.)
(For what it's worth, Atkinson was also such a
fuckwiter, visionary, that he even had anonymous political speech banned in the leadup to the 2010 state election! Yes, the state that was responsible for so many "Firsts" in rights, such as giving women the right to vote, BANNED FREE SPEECH!)And while it technically exists on the Xbox360, I think they have been silently avoiding using it lately.
My ex-wife brought back a few games after she went back to the US
to screw around- even though I told her about the region locking...To my astonishment, every one of the games she brought back worked!
With that in mind, when Nyte was after Fable III, I got it out of Singapore via ebay before it was released in Australia. Worked fine.
So a few options:
1) Take a gamble, it'll probably work.
or 2) Buy it from one of the other Region 4 countries (maybe via ebay): such as New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Mexico, South America, Central America, or the Caribbean
3) Softmod your xbox's drive
4) Bung a modchip in your xbox.
(Note: 3 or 4 can get your xbox banned from Live if you're not careful, however)
I wouldn't mind betting that it will work perfectly from the US - and will cost half the price! (We're overcharged to buggery by comparison). Or if you don't want to risk it, just get it from across the Tasman from the
sheep-rooterskiwis!But they use the same TV signals (PAL). In fact, most of the world uses PAL or PAL/SECAM. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped.....-SECAM.svg.png
But even though the US uses NTSC (Not Twice the Same Colour), modern TVs support PAL -and- NTSC, so that side of things is a non-issue anymore.
The only issue is Region Locking. IF they use it.
So you could easily get it from the Kiwis, from ebay (as I said, i got Fable III from ebay before it was released here - and cheaply), or from the US (who pays half for games what we do, despite our dollar being worth MORE now!) if the games aren't region locked for the US anymore.
Kiwi would be guaranteed to work. US would be only very, very, very likely ;)
As to Atkinson, the former SA Attorney General? He can go die in a fire. >.>
