Colorado Fur in Broomfield/Westminster needs housing badly

I have a friend here who desperately needs a place to stay - inexpensive apartment or affordable, not-crazy roommate situation. He's been staying with us temporarily, but our lease doesn't allow any more people or long-term guests, and we can't unfortunately, keep him.
He's in his fifties, extremely courteous, educated, and well-read, doesn't make a mess, and is very helpful around the house.
Unfortunately, he's had a string of bad fortune, so his funds are limited. I will personally cover his rent and living expenses until he gets on his feet, and my situation is pretty darn solid (I'm a well-paid software developer with a secure job, and several back-up clients and prospects).
He was arrested several years ago, for something completely harmless (he lived in a very conservative area, and his internet tastes got him in trouble), but if he were a criminal or a risk, I wouldn't have him as a friend, and he certainly wouldn't have been living in my home. I can vouch for him, and anyone who knows me at all knows I would not do so lightly.
We're trying to find a place, preferably in the area here, so that his support network will be close by, but if it comes down to it, he can relocate. We're running very close to the wire, and time is running out.
If anyone needs (or can make room for) a well-mannered, non-drama, mature roommate, please contact me ASAP. Please pass this along, or contact me for more information.

I can afford about $500 per month, for his rent and food - hotels are twice that by themselves.
Kentucky and Alabama, the only two places where folks have offered to help, have rules about where folks like this are allowed to live (or even drive past). He could end up in jail just for taking a public bus, if it goes within 1000 feet of a church or school.
We're getting super-desperate.
