Love the character, and this whole mess is really blown out of proportion. But in all honesty I would have preferred the name Ditzy Doo. I just like that name more and think it sounds better.

All in all i think this is a good example of why most established institutions dont make a habit of directly acknowledging fan lore XD

I don't wanna hear any more bullcrap about how Derpy wasn't good enough for the fans. All I heard after Derpy spoke, and was called by name, was how awesome it was and how many fans went wild with joy and basically that everyone appreciated the HELL out of it. Yes, it was indeed good enough for the fans. The fans loved it. Bringing Derpy out of the background was the RIGHT move and it was well executed. What, then, was the problem if it all went as well as I say it did? Haters. Not fans, not supporters. Haters. They hate. They love to rain on everyone's parade. "How dare you think this is great, this is AWFUL, just like EVERYTHING is AWFUL". Don't accuse the creators of being foolish for showing fan appreciation. Don't accuse the fans of being too hard to please. Stop being blind and just remember that if we stop giving fucks about what the haters want, their heads will eventually implode in fits of rage, and we will all be better off. Thank you for your time.

Today I heard on the news that syrian children were being deliberately shot by snipers, so a cartoon horse that was based on mentally retarded people being changed isn't quite the saddest thing I've heard today.

It was both the fan's fault for wanting Derpy AND for having them removed. Not that I care for ponies one bit, I simply don't like seeing it all over the place. :x
