The Borg, The True Way, The Dominion, the Klingons, the Undine, etc. In other words, situation normal. Oh and Q. Reapers aren't invincible though. The Protheans managed to kill one and the Alliance killed Sovereign.
If an entire Turian/Human fleet takes severe casualties killing just one, what makes you think a fleet of Star Destroyers would fare any better against the entire Reaper fleet?
different tech levels and focuses, as they're from different universes.
A typical star destroyer had enough batteries to put out several hundred kilowatts of plasma and/or laser beams. I don't know how that compares to a reaper, but considering you took out a proto reaper is ME2 with man portable weapons, it would probably do bad things.
Same point if a reaper encountered the Enterprise-E: phasers might not do squat, but a typical quantum torp has a yield of 21 *isotons* , and that would mess up just about anything.
I've seen a Reaper rip apart a fleet Babylon 5 style. The only reason it was killed was because it got distracted downloading it's consciousness into a mortal body.
Starfleet has experience dealing with more heavily armed and overpowered opponents plus ships named Enterprise don't get destroyed unless their captains will it. But then the Reapers are nothing like the Borg.
Also very true; then again, the reapers, while immensely powerful, do have weakness's, however few. That's why, in so many sci-fi universes, humans are feared, at least in my opinion. we're not very strong, not very tough, but we're clever little monkeys.
indeed: but in halo especially for a reason. All the tech the covenant has is stolen by piracy from the forerunner wrecks. Humanity *is* the chosen children of the forerunners, all of their tech actually reacts favorably to us, as opposed to simply sitting there for them.
and we're loathed in uplift for simply beings wolflings; we got ourselves into space without any help, and that means an essentially 5 year old race just got kicked up to senior management
If your own military is getting its ass handed to it trying to defend it's home why in the world would you sent your military -away- to help someone else.
Then that old Klingon admiral on DS9 would set this all up as an STF mission.
Call in the star destroyers :P

interesting. Be fun comparing the tech sometime.

ME3 is an epic game, finished it yesterday. There are some reservations I've got.. but you'll get to find that out on your own.
