Soul Calibur V

Im actually a little disappointed about this game, i really enjoyed the last game, apart from the guest characters.
When i saw that Ezio was the guest character in the new game, i was pretty excited, somebody that would actually fit fairly well.
However, when playing the game, i find they've made quite a few changes, they seem to have stolen ideas from other fighting games, losing a little of what differed it that i liked. The main thing was adding in a new power move system called 'Critical Edge', which just comes across as a rip off of what Mortal Kombat & Street Fighter already have.
A lot of the history info that was in the previous game has gone, which would have been nice to have considering this game is set 17 years after SCIV. The story mode gives you a brief insight to this, but now it only follows two of the main characters*, the others are now just incidental. Thats right, no individual storylines.
*The two characters feel like they belong more in a Final Fantasy game, blonde, young and sooooo whiney!
Mimic characters, i normally dont mind having one in a fighting game, its just the norm and has been for a long time, but SCV has at least 3! Thats just lazy.
As the storyline is 17 years on, a handful of the old characters have gone (with no real explination due to no history info), but dont worry, we've got a handful of new ones in their place.....that are carbon copies of the ones that left. There are only 2 brand new characters, which are both pretty interesting i have to admit, and a 3rd in DLC.
The create a character has been nerfed too, while you can be a lot more in depth with whats there, a lot of the adaptability has just gone, admittedly i've still got a lot to unlock, but it doesn't look like i'll be able to do much more with what i do.
6/10 Dont rush to get it, but still a nice fighter if you like the SC series.

so does this mean there is, again, no Soul's & Swords mode (the individual character story that you use to unlock new weapons)? i hatted that it was removed in the last game for that stupid tower challenge. i want to have my characters wondering the world not stuck in a tower with no story plot.

OP
Correct, there's only an arcade mode (six rounds) and character battle (AI version of online mode)

wow. that's a really short arcade more. that's not even a game. i'm glad i passed up buying this game for the new final fantasy but, sadly, that game was a big letdown too. what the fuck is up with the modern game market? catering to the masses by copying other games and repeating what's already been done to death for profit is killing the industry.

Yeah, i've heard a few people say that the new Mass effect is a bit lazy

with the way the video game industry is behaving it's driving me into becoming an indie game maker. now if only i had talent in programing and art skills.
